Believe it or not, there are quite a few big players in the industry who are voluntarily cutting back emissions and doing their best to conserve finite resources in order to assist governments in preserving the environment. They are trying to also do it economically, but are willing players.
What have the greenpeace hippies actually done other than call for the confiscation of income?

Wrong.
China is #1 in total output, US is #2, the entire EU is #3 and India is #4. Per Capita the US is 109% higher than China and 747% higher than India. The US is 7th in per capita CO2 emissions. Every country in the top 10 has an economy based on oil/fossil fuel production: Oman, Kuwait, UAE, Australia, Turkmenistan, Oman, USA, Saudi Arabi, Canada, and Kazakhstan.
China is definitely a problem but they are actually taking steps to improve their situation unlike the US. EVEN IF every piece of science not paid for by oil companies is wrong, why should we still be hitching our horse to antiquated forms of energy like oil and coal vs "clean" energy sources like wind and solar? Are you willing to bet your life and home on being right when the trade off has way more positives than negatives?

An in depth discussion of the why the Antarctic melting scenario presented in 2016 is probably overdone in the short term.
Carbon brief is a good source for depth in discussions concerning climate change, modeling, and things like "is climate change causing more deep cold events from disrupting the polar vortex" (answer: it's complicated and competing feedbacks mean it's questionable).
