hook up dirty cow udders to milking machines that were laying in cow shite, then collect all the milk in a container and let it sit, warm, as you fill it up with other milk that was run through the same milking machine.

Worked in a dairy way back in high school and

* the milkers hung on beside the station...did not lay in cow shite.
* before putting on the milkers, the udders were washed off with a spray of warm water with anti bacterial agent in it...then plain warm water.
* yes the milk is collected in a tank but it was held at a temp cold enough to have a thin layer of slushy ice on top of the milk.
* the tank of milk was tested prior to being loaded into the truck for transport.
* all equipment was flushed with scalding hot water when everything was finished.

There are risks, there are also lots of regulations to minimize those risks.

Same goes for milk, yet people don't understand science so they just decide to get sick drinking poo milk.

I like my milk pasteurized out of fear, but I also love non-homogenized. I love cream floating around and you gotta shake it to mix it up.

I will say non-pasteurized, raw, FRESH milk is absolutely fricking delicious. It's just a risk/reward thing.
