We are in sleet mode here. We only got about 5 inches of snow overnight, but we are right on the ice line, and its a sleety snow coming down and I can walk on the snow without breaking thru. Still forecasting 5-8 inches more here.
No idea how I'm going to dig out. Don't my snow blower will work in these conditions, and I'm not sure my knee will hold up to shovel. Ugh.

I have no choice though to wait until later today to even consider doing anything.

Hope everyone handles the ice and temps well the next few days

In a group chat with some friends last night, 5 of them live in Buffalo, Providence, NYC, long island, and North Texas. The sum of their local temps didn't hit the temp in Florida. Single digits in Buffalo didn't do much to help their team's score . Currently 76 feels like 80 with a nice breeze

10 and feels like -6 in Fort Worth. Thankfully all the precipitation here is done so no more ice accumulation

Here near the airport everything is white but solid ice. No accumulation on the trees at all. Pipes holding on :) power still up. Big W.

I am seeing on Reed's stream that MS did not however make it out that good. Seeing a lot of sagging trees with ice.

We have at least 4" of sleet/snow here in Shreveport. My walkway to my front door is lined with 3.5." tall pavers and they are buried.

Still have power too.

My wife has family in the Choudrant, LA area and they are all without power. Her sister has trees on her mobile home.

Good to hear Salmon...I made it out the other end w power as well.... actually knocked my heat down and did a victory dance since the chance of precip is gone then saw a friend post they JUST lost power so guess still possible.

Now feel kinda bad...sent the wife and kid to the in laws cause they have a whole home generator....that feels like it wasnt needed

Yep. I did the same thing. Feel kinda guilty now.

But we did it because we very easily could have been the people without power. Just south of us in DeSoto got hit hard with ice and have over 60% with no power.

So much better safe than sorry. And I say that as a wife who would appreciate my spouse looking out for his family.

Agreed. Better to be in a place that has backup power and not toned it then stay and need it and not have it.

My medical son in law reported he slid to the hospital this morning and arrived safely.

At my in-laws in Mobile - 72, windy as hell, under tornado watch while my family in Bandera, TX, Monroe, LA. and Oxford, MS caught hell with the ice and snow. Weird weather. Daughter at Alabama gets 3 inches of rain, with no snow or ice and son in Baton Rouge is waiting to see what happens there. Crazy.

Currently have a flight booked to fly into Memphis on Tuesday AM

Weather is saying it’ll just be cold and no snow at that time, but I know what happens before that and throughout the night is a bigger deal

Looks like I’ll get a free waiver if the fight is canceled, but was wondering if I should make contingency plans

I finally checked my rain gauge since it’s been raining pretty much nonstop since yesterday at 10am. I’m surprised to only find 2.5 inches of rain because water is everywhere.

The ground doesn't like soaking up water in the winter
