No. 11 LSU took care of business Saturday night, cruising past McNeese 63-14 in Tiger Stadium.

The Tigers jumped out to a 35-0 halftime lead and were able to get plenty of younger players involved while improving to 4-1 on the season.

LSU opened the scoring with a 1-yard touchdown run from Dilin Jones before Sam Leavitt connected with tight end Roman Mothershed for his first career touchdown.

Backup quarterback Landen Clark added a 3-yard rushing score in the second quarter before Leavitt found freshman wide receiver Corey Barber Jr. for a pair of touchdowns late in the half. Barber's scores were the first two touchdowns of his LSU career.

Leavitt played the entire first half and finished 18-of-23 for 176 yards with three touchdowns and one interception before LSU turned things over to its backups.

The Tigers kept things rolling after halftime when freshman defensive tackle Deuce Geralds lined up in the backfield and scored on a 1-yard run. Harlem Berry followed with an 11-yard touchdown run to make it 49-0.

McNeese scored twice late in the third quarter, but LSU responded in the fourth with two long touchdown runs from Stacy Gage, who broke free for scores of 46 and 39 yards to finish off the 63-14 victory.

LSU will return to SEC play next Saturday when the Tigers travel to Lexington to face Kentucky. Kickoff from Kroger Field is set for 6 p.m. CT.
