Tannehill played average for the Phins and they never went anywhere despite Suh playing with good players on the line.
Hopefully Brees is the difference maker.

Unfortunately with the cap room the Rams have, they have a perfect opportunity to offer Suh a nice one year deal with no impact on their future cap space. They could offer him a 1 year deal at $15-$17 million guaranteed and we really could not compete.

I'd bet he'd take 3/36 over 1/15.

I don’t see him wanting a 1 year deal at 31.
At this point I’m willing to bet he wants one final big pay day and one last team to ride off into the suhnset with.

quote:All depends on how much is guaranteed on each. The players all look at the guaranteed money. If the 1 year/$15 million is fully guaranteed, but the 3/36 only has $10-$12 million guaranteed, he would probably be interested in the 1 year deal.
I'd bet he'd take 3/36 over 1/15.

wouldn't be surprised if he takes his sweet time signing. What's the rush at this point?
There's a few other DTs on the market. If we and the Titans sign them, his options are just severely limited and the money dries up quick if there's only one team Interested.
He can't go much longer without risk of overplaying his hand.

They're a 3-4 now though. They shipped Ogletree out due to the fact that he's better suited in a 4-3. I know Suh is a man amongst boys out there, but he benefited greatly in a 4-3 scheme with a block eater like Fairley next to him.
In a 3-4, his stats would be diminished greatly. I don't think he'd sign a 1 year deal with the hopes of getting another big contract after a big scheme change.

Paul Kuharsky
@PaulKuharskyNFL
.@Schultz_Report on @Midday180; @NdamukongSuh still feels he's in his prime. Nobody better but has to be motivated. A self-starter, doesn't need hand held. Wants to be on a line working for each other, will go all out. No question for me he will be motivated. In gym at 5 am daily

Everything he seems to be saying indicates the Saints as a good fit.....but money talks....

Yea I guess we will find out

I feel the same. It will probably come down to us, the Rams and the Seahawks. I’d be truly surprised if he signed with the Titans and I hope he sees the Hawks are rebuilding right now, leaving it to be just us and the Rams.
They have more pieces on D, are closer to home for him, are just as much of a playoff contender as us and have more guaranteed money they could throw at him. The only thing we would have going for us would be a better scheme fit

Gotta feeling he signs with the Rams. they hit all his boxes. way more cap space, competitor, big market.
Think there's going to be a west coast tsuhnami

The only concern if I'm the LA rams is the money I give suh is going to play a role on how much Aaron Donald asks later.
You give suh 1/15 or something long, how is that going to play out with Donald?

Suh/donald is nasty AF.

way more cap space
This is a non issue. With Brees on the cap for $33.5 mil next year (which can be greatly reduced), we still have over $40 mil in space.
We can easily create almost another $10 mil this year with 2 restructures on surefire long term players (Jordan and Warford).
If we need more than that we can create a LOT more than that.
Cap space is literally not a factor.
Looking at the team, we are literally on a 3 year countdown (counting this year) before we can completely rebuild this team with near zero cap implications.
It's on a 2 year cycle where we can do a complete rebuild with a small degree of cap implications.
This is a literal 2 year window in which we are trying to win a SB. If we want Suh we can pay him $20 mil per and not blink.
Money is not an issue. It all comes down to who Suh feels is the best fit and what city he wants to live in part time for 2-3 years.

I know you are the resident cap guru, so I default to your expertise. but help me understand where, CURRENTLY we have over $40 mil.
on Overthecap, the Rams sit at nearly $29mil, where we sit at $2.3 mil after all recent contracts, which also says Brees' hit is only $24 mil.
I understand we can convert roster bonuses and what not to create space. but at this moment, the Rams have way more money in their bank.

They do, but we can agree to a deal with Suh today and not make it official until we restructure some contracts to make cap space. This is Loomis' MO. He generally tries to keep the cap at around 2-3 million in space and then works deals to free money as needed. So basically it is like some teams have cash in a money market in their portfolio. We have assets that we can shift around and free up capital. One looks better than the other on paper and requires less work, but if we really want Suh, we can pretty much match any offer.
