So its not a fumble or a lateral Its a backward forward pass
If he would not have been hit would that have been a fumble.
The NFL is a fricking joke

The arm was going forward but toward the other way. It was a backward pass/fumble.

They are wrong in their evaluation

Backwards pass if it's ruled a passing motion, and should be a live ball!

So that new thing will be to just bring the ball up and hold it there? Then the "intent to throw" is always there and you can't fumble.

The NFL just ended QB fumbling apparently.

That’s the most retarded call. Drawing the arm back is not intent to pass.

He was hit before the ball went forward. At most it’s a lateral which isn’t a forward pass.

Pro football is a true Roman circus. Sports entertainment at its finest.

This may be one of the most ridiculous calls I’ve seen in my life… and that’s saying something

Even if it didn’t the ruling has always been dumb. It’s quite easy to see if the sack causes a fumble. Has been since 2002 or whenever.

Maybe this is a rule, but it’s a terrible one that should be changed. If you throw the ball backwards, lateral, that’s a live ball. This should have been a TD, and it makes the league look stupid.

That the ball went backwards isn’t important.

It’s a forward pass.

His intent was to throw it forward.

The rules expert came out and told you. What else could you possibly want?

The ball wanted to go forward though. It’s all about intent

Just AI’d the NFL rule book. It clearly says if the arm isn’t going forward, it’s a fumble. If his arm went forward at any point, it’s an incomplete pass… even if it goes backwards. That’s beyond stupid.

As long as the arm is going forward. Meanwhile QBs are gonna learn how to throw a backwards pass using the wrist and hand but the arm will be going forward.

Stupid arse rule interpretation.

Arm was not going forward though. It was going backward. Hence a lateral recovered by Saints.

Missed evaluation.

I see the arm go “forward” because he got hit. He wasn’t on planning to throw it sideways so I’m not sure how they thought that was a pass attempt. He clearly got sacked and fumbled.
