re: Down to Brass Tacks: What can we REALISTICALLY get for Zion in a Trade (Picks, etc)
Posted by elveaux on 11/27/25 at 11:04 am to TigerBait2008
I hope we can just get something decent at this point. We can always cut him, but we aren’t getting real free agents… so some trade is best.

You have to maximize Trey’s value this trade season. He is worth way more as a 4th option, sixth man to a top-10 team than he is to us as a #2.

Is Kamara playing?
He can be a top-15 player, if he keeps developing his game. No guarantees obviously, but he has the skills, attitude, and defensive ability to get there. I can see him making some all-NBA teams in his career.
The story that makes the most sense is probably true. We have never paid the luxury tax, even in seasons where we were at 50 wins. Maybe going “all in” then could have gotten us a first round series win, or even a conference finals. Given that background, saving the $$$ by letting this season run out makes the most sense. It’s stupid and shows a complete lack of commitment…. but it fits the pattern. May this team be sold to someone that is committed to winning and wants to keep it in NOLA.
re: Is there a way that Zion and Queen can co-exist?
Posted by elveaux on 11/10/25 at 7:37 am to 3PieceSpicy
It’s the general lack of ball movement when he is out there that drives me crazy. Look how the guys with Queen move when he has the ball, because Queen will find you cutting to the hole. Zion can pass, but he just doesn’t do it enough.
re: Glad we got rid of Ingram

He’s the 3rd best guy on a really good team, or a 6th man. If he could shoot and make 3’s on a 38-42% level, he could be a top-25 player. Alas, he can’t. Glad we moved on.
Willie sucks so much.
Trey would be a great 6th man on a contending team. Come in with high energy and score. He doesn’t appear to be the second best player on a playoff team.
He cooked in summer league last year, if I remember correctly. If he can’t shoot better, he has no role.
re: William Simmons Says the Pellies have the 3rd worst Bleakest Outlook in the West

These guys are fans, with a LITTLE inside info. The West is stacked, and they said no way we are a top-5 in the East. Hoping that is where we move when two teams expand - Vegas and Seattle.
I would love Queen, personally. He is the same size as Boogie and has that offensive game we need. He and Missi would be a good match. I’m sure we will pick Malauch though.

This is such a scam. They take our “donations”, then they get the tax write off.
So true about Cox. He was such a stud in the middle of their DL. It is just another example of how important the line of scrimmage is.
We don’t really have a choice but hope he changes his game and takes a smaller, more reasonable salary.
re: Trade value for CJ - relative to salary constraints
Posted by elveaux on 7/10/24 at 11:30 am to Balsamic_duck
CJ is a dying breed in the NBA. Until defenses figure out how to hide someone more with the incessant switches and targeting of the one bad defender, these guys are massively overpaid. Why Griff extended him when he did is beyond me….
It is funny…. College football finds the weak link and just crushes that defender over and over. That doesn’t really work in the NFL, b/c the weak links aren’t as obvious. The NBA has become similar.

re: NBA Offseason officially kicks off, Ingram’s days in NOLA coming to an end per Stein

He changed agents right before the new season on Jul 1st, which hamstrung the Mavs some in dealing with Jones.
Everyone passed on Giannis and Gobert that draft. I guess everyone is drafting the foreigners up front, but I feel these two aren’t the ones in the long run.
The only player that you could use as a comparison is Barkley. He was literally known as the Round Mound of Rebound. Once he finally got in shape (tail end of Philly/Phoenix), he went to an entirely new level. We can only hope the same for Zion. He needs to improve his skills and game.
We had no depth this year. It is what it is. We used a lot of mojo in 2023, and it is extremely tough to repeat.
