Respectfully, I see no supporting evidence that the floor is eight wins.

I see no major improvement in OL or DB.

I hope get 2-3 more wins then last at best.

David Edwards?

Martin Emerson is probably our best CB too

The most underrated reason for optimism in this thread is that we we will be starting the season with what I believe to be a top half QB in the league. If Shough is deserving of this designation, that alone justifies 9-8 level optimism. It’s a a league.

Ignoring the David Edwards addition to the OL, who cares if those two position groups are not better. QB, RB, WR, TE are all better and deeper than last season. Edge is deeper, at least. I'd argue Safeties and LB are better (yes, Ellis is an upgrade over old Demario, I said it). Hell, our punter is hugely better than last year. It's not crazy to expect a significantly better season, even if the DB and OL groups are not improved.

Saints could win 8 games this season. Maybe 9.

9-8 with this roster would be a solid year in my opinion.

8 win season.

On par with exactly what they continue to want to be.

This is where I am. The Saints have a QB that provides reason for optimism. But he also hasn’t started enough games to make a definitive assessment good or bad. The first team guys have quality, but there are depth concerns that are probably more worrying than about 1/2 of the teams in the league. The upside is, on paper, the schedule seems favorable and no other team in the division appears to be a really good team
