4,600 passing
460 rushing
36 TDs
11 INTs
12-5 record
Significantly better OLine play and support cast around him with a coach who knows how to put his offense in advantageous positions.
Saints will surprise a lot of people who bought the lie that 2025 was going to be a 2-15 roster and only see the 6-11 finish. Rookie Shough takes last year’s team to a 9-8 playoff record if he starts all 17.
This is a 9-8 roster with a QB capable of elevating those around him.

I don't know about y'all, but I find it funny how they describe the teams in the NFC South. A lot of weird words to try to justify where they ranked them, I think missing the mark by a lot:
26) New Orleans Saints. Addressed offensive speed and tried to balance the trenches, but the draft didn’t give them enough high-end stabilizers to raise the weekly floor – still too dependent on everything going right.
23) Atlanta Falcons. Found some utility, but didn’t meaningfully change the franchise direction – this was more fill cracks than build a contender.
22) Carolina Panthers. Invested in the trenches, which is the correct move. But didn’t add enough immediate difference-makers to change outcomes in 2026. Tough doesn’t automatically mean good.
20) Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Cleanly addressed pressure and second-level speed, which actually matters in 2026. The draft made them harder to play against for sure.
I guess our draft didn't make us harder to play against? Nobody is going to contribute? Investing in the trenches is the correct move for Carolina, but not us? And what the hell does it mean to fill cracks, but not build a contender?
This is perhaps the dumbest article I've read since the season ended.

This is good. We don’t want that circus. Shough is our guy, Garrett shouldn’t even be an afterthought.

Those Reddit posts have some delusional takes, one says “6-8 games suspended”, while another thinks it’ll “blow over by September “.
Wow.
Wow.
Ain’t nobody got time for that!
Payton fires Lombardi

In 16 years, Payton never fired Pete Carmichael.
Payton firing Lombardi smells like scapegoating to me.

Saints may just have the best QB and are definitely trending UP, while rest of the NFCS is spinning wheels
Hill is barely a year recovered from a torn ACL. I disagree that he’s done. He is almost certainly past his prime, but he is absolutely still very valuable due to his versatility and I think could come back better next year than this one. Does he still have enough juice in 2027? That’s the timeframe I question.
Other than an Independence Bowl game vs Notre Dame in the late 90s, LSU has worn YELLOW helmets in every game I’ve ever seen that wasn’t the white or purple helmets.
LSUs *ACTUAL* colors are Purple, White and YELLOW.

The color is absolutely penalty flag yellow.
I know we say gold, but it’s yellow. Silly, proud denial.

Austin’s problems are sloppy routes and a lot of drops. Maybe it’s not too late in his career for some quality coaching to help him make a Devery-esque improvement.

I’d argue he finally did get Drew a great defense from 2018-2020. Problem is that defense finally came along at the same time Drew’s arm was falling off the cliff.

Anyone who paid attention knew Payton was fantastic at tailoring game plans and schemes to his talent at-hand.
From 2019-2021, the Saints played 16 games being quarterbacked by Jameis, Taysom and Teddy. Their record in those games? A #1 seed-worthy record of 13-3.

I would argue Vele has established himself as a solid #2. That gives us a high-end 2 (Olave) and a mid-tier 2 (Vele).
Don’t want to pay Olave #1 money so I’d send him packing this offseason bc I’d bet he and his agent will push to get more than I’d like to pay him

Why so certain he’s a “stop gap” ?
He looks better earlier in his NFL career than sunshine did.

But Godwin is a much better player playing second fiddle to Evans
He’d be much more productive and AVAILABLE on this team. I’d offer Olave 80% of what Godwin is making, tops

It still should’ve been a turnover on downs though
