Ehhh indeed. I blame our sh!tty division that can be won with a sh!tty team. If we had a kc, Philly and Frisco in our division I don't think you would see such half measures. Don't like it but I understand from a business and keep your job side.

Now get Thomas back

Getting Carr and if we get Michael Thomas back on the field instantly make us a better team, by a long shot compared to what we were last year.

I get the negasaints. Carr is not going to be MVP, Thomas has been MIA for nearly 3 years and has made a bunch of money. But the hate Thomas gets is a bit petty. I know he fricked up 2 offseasons ago by ghosting Payton/Loomis but there were rumors of a misdiagnosis by our medical staff and them giving Payton/Loomis that wrong info saying Thomas should be able to play. Seems unlikely but this is the exact same thing that happened with Delvin Breaux years ago. Outside of that, Thomas has simply been unfortunate wiht injuries but you could also see he was working to be back on the field last year

I cautiously optimistic and pessimistic at signing Carr. His ceiling is higher than Dalton's, but I worry about the financial impact for years down the road. I hope this does open the window for a chance, but I have a weird feeling we are going toward Mora-era Saints than Payton/Brees Saints every day. Hopefully, that means advancing the playoffs and not "Diddily Poo" press conferences but we will see.

Regardless, the streak continues everyone. No QB taken in the first round since Archie in 1971. Hell, bonus fact, we have drafted the same number of Kickers/Punters and QBs in the first round in franchise history.

That ceiling isn’t a championship ceiling so why waste the money?

First, what a loser mentality.
Second, if every single signing was based on bringing a championship, there would a crap ton of teams would be short of the 53-man roster.

Just dumb.

The saints are never going to go in to rebuilding mode. So many franchises try to "rebuild" and get stuck in sub .500 purgatory

So we'll be stuck in slightly above .500 purgatory?

Also this may set us on a path to implosion in a few years

2 reasons Saints made this deal

1- Gave up no draft capital or assets

2- still in win now mentality. They know that Carolina Falcons and Tampa need starting QB’s. With Carr, as we speak, we have best QB in the South. Should win conference now!

QB David Carr

Man not sure how I feel about this one

Think he can sling it still after 10 years?

Probably still has happy feet from that o-line they had him sitting behind from 15+ years ago

I’m going to be optimistic until I have no reason to be. I think Carr is a leader and he’s durable, and I think he has the fire to want to prove doubters wrong. He’s better than any realistic QB the Saints could acquire.

Isn't it financially impossible for Thomas to be on the roster this year? And that was BEFORE we gave out this deal to Carr

Will Blake Gillikin give up #4? Will Carr choose a different number?

This is a terrible signing. I don't care what anyone says. Unless he comes at a bargain price which he's not, it's bad, period. He needs the perfect fit for OC and we have an idiot as OC. It's not going to work. You play in a shite division which means he could potentially be good enough to win it but then what? 1 and done every year? Then just pushing the bad cap down the road. This was a bad move not to realize we needed to be in a rebuild mode right now not 3 years from now but right now.

They need to push for a franchise QB right now in the draft. Trade up to get someone.

For frick sake. Why not sign a guy who just had the worst season in his career at age 31 to a huge deal? We are the joke of the league again. Dalton gave you 90% of Carr’s production for 1/10th the price. I want the Saints to be winners but this is just a sorry attempt at DA keeping his job. I would rather 1-2 rough seasons to get right with the cap and collect draft capital and do a rebuild the right way. You build through the draft and find good deals in free agency. I do t see how anyone can justify paying Carr $30 million a year for his 31-35 year old seasons. The guaranteed money will be what I want to see most.

Agree...but it's way more than 4 years.

This pushes it back at least 6.

I'm slightly on the fence here, bordering on positive I guess.

I've been saying for 3 years that everything we do needs to be about getting a QB.

Carr has been a good QB in the past. Not a great one but a good one.

He was awful last year with Davante Adams and one of the best RBs in football.

I'm cautious. But happy to have at least a somewhat competent QB.
