I just hope Carr brings some fresh ideas to help Carmichael learn to scheme a more well rounded game plan. Although I have my doubts about this, I can only hope a fresh set of eyes gives birth to some new offensive ideas!

Don't forget what division he's playing in. In any given year over his career, you can nearly guarantee at least 4 losses to in-division rivals. Given the state of their defense, maybe more.

Also, when you know you're the odd man out, it's hard to be motivated to really push the limits as a QB. This year, the Raiders out-Raidered themselves by losing several games where they were leading at one point - because the defense collapsed.

Meh defense, uninspired QB, and you get the Raiders of the last 2-3 years.

As long as we don't break the bank, I'd like to see what Carr can do with a team that actually wants him.

Idk how I feel. All I know is it's GOT to be better than watching Andy Dalton again.
You got that right, watching Dalton wasn't that bad, but it was frustrating at times. So, I guess this is goodbye to both Dalton and Crablegs?? Good luck to them!

Ps - they should still draft Hendon Hooker.

You’re setting yourself up for disappointment. It’s probably $35 million a year or more.

Let's hope the contract is somewhere around 4/140. But I have a feeling it's more around 4/160

Draft picks.

I didn't say it wasn't real. I said anything they want can be done inside of it. They (wrongly) choose davenport over hendrickson.

f we could afford to pay him, he'd have stayed.

Maybe. But again, they chose not to. They had Alonte Taylor coming in and Justin Evans had a "resurgence" in the preseason. Again, wrong call, but they hedged bets in the wrong direction.

So, in the best case scenario, he's approaching 30 when we get to test him for only 1 year prior to having to give him a huge contract?

You replied to a discussion thread started with this post:

Have you not learned? The salary cap isn't real

We couldn't afford Hendrickson because of our cap issues. Davenport had nothing to do with it (and a minimal cap hit)

ONLY because of our cap situation was this "call" needed.

Carr makes all of those issues moving forward exponentially worse, especially with uncuttable guys like Hill, Mathieu, Maye, etc.

The #Saints & Derek Carr agreed on a 4-yr deal for $150M with $100M in total guarantees, per me & @MikeGarafolo. He gets $70M effectively fully guaranteed ($60M at signing, another $10M in Year 3 vesting after Year 1). Carr structures his deal to accommodate Saints’ cap issues.

Its all relative. Half the league aint worth what they are making.

But as long as they can field a team...who really cares what he is getting paid.
