Zion was okay.
What?

We gotta stop excusing his shite performances. He scored 13 points and was a turnstile on defense and grabbed 2 rebounds. He was God awful tonight.

Check how Lebron played and mainly, his effort. Your team feeds off of your best players effort.

Dude hasn't played a single play in game in his career

If not for playin...his team wouldn't have qualified for the playoffs at all

What NBA Superstar spends 4 years on an actually talented roster not making the postseason?

Not being available for the post season?

This was his chance against a 50 year old LeBron and a bad fall away from missing the year AD from asserting himself into to the NBA landscape

And he half assed it...like his entire career so far

Meh
Some guys don’t have it every night. You would think this is a night he should have it.

Our leading scorer tonight was trey Murphy with 14 and he was 2-7 from 3
They had a bad game, it happens.

If zion goes beast mode next game y’all will be back to hyping him

His defense is an issue though and sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between being lazy or being out of shape. Although being lazy is why he’s out of shape

Zion ain’t what he was at Duke when it comes to explosiveness and effort

This is what irks me the most. Last year looked like the Zion revenge tour. Once he got his feet back under him he was absolutely dominating and even though his defense wasn’t great he actually gave a shite on that end and you could see it. Just look at the Wolves game highlights. I refuse to believe that hamstring injury took that much away from him to see the shite we all saw last night. Beyond disappointing.

Dyson was our leading rebounder with 8.

I'm sorry, but the giggly BI/Zion interview is looking pretty bad in hindsight.

People are emotional right now, and I agree with y’all 100%. But I gotta wonder what happened. Zion has never been Ryan Bowen out there in terms of effort, but he wasn’t this bad, even just two weeks ago.

So that’s why I have to ask, what happened? Did he just not care about these games? Did something happen behind closed doors? Something in his personal life?

Because like I said, he’s never been Ryan Bowen, but compared to how he was playing just recently, this is a whole other level of lack of effort.

I’ve kept quiet on Zion but after this performance, on this stage, etc…….he doesn’t want to be in N.O. I’ve watched every game this year and his effort is the worst of the 5 years he’s been here. If he truly cared, he’d change. You’re correct; it’s gotten worse.

I would take 50 cents on the dollar for him just to watch a game and see all 5 guys give effort. Unfortunately David Griffin fricking sucks and we are stuck as a fan base. Such a helpless feeling as a fan

I didn't see this post and started another thread in this very thkng.

Zions effort went to shite when Trey came back.

I think it's because his minutes got cut and BI's didn't

Its easy to tell if Zion is at weight or not. Just look at his jawline.

At Duke, homie had the jawline of a Greek God. Look at the presser after the game. He has no jawline. Dude is extremely overweight to play in the NBA.

More than likely his minutes were reduced to save him from himself (*aka injury) because mentally I dont think he could handle another season ender.

The problem is this organization is so unserious and lacks discipline to tell this dude you cant see the floor until you are 250 because we are not a FA destination. So now you are stuck in purgatory, where teams go to die and get moved to somewhere else.

I thought he looked scared to try and take it to Lebrun last night. After the 2nd charge he didn’t try.

I didn’t realize they even called charges in the NBA and Lebron gets three last night….

Zion is never going to be an elite player unless he develops a respectable jump shot

Tyrese Halliburton, SGA, Ant Edwards, Luka, Fox, Tatum, Maxey, Paolo, Cunningham…

All of these guys are young guys in the same damn generation. It’s not a generation thing, it’s a mailing it in thing. Zion’s potential is higher than anyone of those guys listed and I’d take any of those guys over Zion because Zion is not committed to putting in the work. I’m getting tired of his “potential.” I’d be first in line to hope he figures it out, but it’s beginning to be the foolish side of the equation.

Unfortunately, we have lost the bet on sticking with him and any trades involving him are pennies on the dollar in value. At least the owner cashed in on merch sales and hype and season tickets for him, but that ship is sailing down the Mississippi

The bar for him is unbelievably low. His effort always sucks. Sometimes it just sucks a little less and then people think he’s turned a corner.

It’s abundantly clear the guy has no desire to be great. He just wants to be a weeb and frick porn stars.

Didn't see this thread but I posted this in the bi-polar thread. Kind of applies to this one more...

quote:

I definitely don't think we should blow it up or even trade Zion, but the last thing I was thinking about last night when i went to bed it that Zion is never going to be a good defender or be hustle player

Since he's been here I've given his defense a pass and even his effort a pass. Last night for whatever reason was like a lightening bolt reality check that yea Zion is never going to give the effort you want him to.

LeBron at 39 (who does cherry pick fairly often but at this point he's earned the right to) had numerous full burst sprints down the court that turned into points based solely on his effort. I can't even picture in my head Zion doing that/displaying that kind of effort and it'll probably only get worse. He is so often the last one across mid court even when he doesn't have the ball it's kind of amazing.

Since he's been in the league I've always thought he had top 5 player potential and at times has looked it for semi-long stretches, but his effort kind of takes him out of that discussion for me.
