Scoot Wants to be in New Orleans & Zion is Available, per Chris Haynes

Link is to a tweet. Apparently Chris Haynes said this, amongst other things while he was a guest on a Blazers Podcast.

Listening now. Haynes straddled the fence a bunch in this Pod, but he definitively said 3 things without wavering.
1) The Pels Want Scoot
2) Scoot Wants to be in New Orleans
3) Zion is “Available”
He did also say that he thinks the Blazers are trending towards keeping number 3 and drafting Scoot, but acknowledges that could change or could be a potential smokescreen.
Mentions checking out Zion’s medicals will be a key part of any potential trade that is made for him.

If Charlotte for sure takes Miller at 2, I honestly feel like it’s up to Griffin whether he gets Scoot at 3. But as I said before, don’t think he has the balls.

We say that but wouldn’t be surprised if ownership nudges him a bit on this one due to the finances as well separate themselves from the off court Zion stuff.

I actually don’t think it’s a Pels leak. Haynes is known to be Dame’s mouthpiece. In the audio of interview, he starts off noting he doesn’t think Portland will trade and will take a player. Then unprompted when asked about what Dame would think, drops the scoot wanting NOLA nugget.

I haven’t listened to be fair. But dropping Scoot wants to be in nola is a pretty big quote. Dame mouthpiece or not. I hadnt heard anybody else quoting where Scoot wanted to be before this.

If we do actually trade ( it’s not happening ) we better get 2 Sharpe and at least 1 extra 1st rounder. Probably have to take Simons for salary which will take away that other 1st but I would reroute him to someone else for a 1st. At that point you already have Scoot CJ Sharpe and Jose as your guards all locked up for years so Simons is redundant especially with his contract. Only way I still wouldn’t be upset with this trade is if that Simone reroute is with DD and other picks for a high level center. Scoot CJ BI Trey center we trade for. Jose Sharpe Naji Jax and Nance as a bench

I could be completely off here but this beginning to look a lot like the CJ stuff from 2 years ago. If there is no trade, Griff already shaky relationship with Zion will be at near breaking point. Could it be no big deal if they start winning sure but no superstar likes to hear nonstop rumors that he was essentially going to be traded for a rookie. At this point, probably better to trade him. Rather than 6 months later we go through another AD situation where he wants out.

There is a lot of smoke. It’s obvious no deal gets done without either BI or Zion, so if Griff had really shut this down and walked away the leak parade from the other 2 teams wouldn’t continue. It at least would have stopped with Charlotte, continuing with Portland says Griff never firmly said no.
Also, if Scoot wanting to be in NOLA is a Portland leak to convince the Pels to trade and Portland is being held hostage by Dame, then Griff has them right where he wants them.

Zion for Sharpe, pick 3 ( if Scoot is there), and a top 4 protected 1st next year, and at least a few more assets.

I don’t believe it having to be Bi or Zion is obvious. My wild guess on the overall situation is that we have been trying to trade up, and these leaks are from Charlotte/Portland trying to pry Bi or Zion. It’s conceivable that we could trade the pieces for some other player to move in a three team trade that gets us Scoot. But I do see all of this highly unlikely. Or put this way, I think it’s way less likely that Zion gets traded than there being a deal built around players and picks.

I would do Dyson and 4 1sts for Scoot, add Herb and another 1st if we can get Sharpe back also

All indications are that he's an All Star caliber draft pick. You definitely trade non All Star caliber assets to get that if you can. But I don't see how Dyson + Herb + Stuff gets you the type of Win Now player Portland would want in return. Mikal Bridges, Bam and Jaylen Brown are just as if not more expensive than Ingram.
The only distressed property player of this caliber is KAT. Maybe you could turn Pels stuff into KAT and that would get you Scoot.
