re: Balogun eligible for USA vs Belgium!

Portnoy being first to report this is hilarious

As much as I dislike Fox's broadcast it's mainly due to the camera work, yesterday after the final whistle in France-Paraguay they're zoned in on Mbappe, while there is about to be a fight at midfield, by the time they cut to it was pretty much over, I'm not going to switch to Telemundo over that.
Well, telemundo wouldn’t fix that. Fox and Telemundo aren’t in charge of cameras. FIFA host broadcaster is in charge of that and sends to all world feeds. Same with replay decisions.
Fletcher has been awesome tho. I’ve enjoyed him a lot!
He does work for Fox. So there’s at least a decent chance he’s got real sources here.
re: What are the chances the red card suspension is overturned?

Actually is relevant as the red card law says it has to be “deliberate”. By definition, accidental is not deliberate. Additionally, you have to watch the whole play. They both challenge for the ball. Balogun is actually in front of the Bosnian player who challenges through his back and they both get knocked off balance and their feet get tangled up as they land. It looks bad when you just slow mo in the landing -which btw slow mo itself is NOT allowed to be used by VAR in that situation.
It was an incorrect call. A yellow? Sure. A straight red utterly ridiculous.

What a total waste of a corner there by Ecuador

And I thought there were no breaks?
Why’d you think that? There’s breaks in every game this World Cup. FIFA ain’t giving up the new money!

If tweet fails to load, click here. Awful announcing and the media “chattering class” as they call in this article very obviously don’t talk to regular fans.
Not saying Alexi is universally loved but “finding anyone who supports him is harder than finding big foot” is just totally disingenuous.
It’s also amazing how the same media folks love Zlatan and his analysis. His schtick is fine with me, but it’s funny that they all treat that as serious or insightful analysis.
If we are applying this rule by the book, shouldn’t the turkey player also have gotten red for covering his mouth to tell the ref almiron covered his mouth?
I think Zlatan and Alexi are both just playing into the “feud” as some media folks fall for it and cover it. And it fits Zlatan’s schtick.
You realize that was a replay after the Canada game because the World Cup coverage moved to big Fox? It was not part of the World Cup coverage. Lol
It’s not a recap show per se. It’s a late night show Fox is doing in local affiliates. More for casuals I’d assume
FIFA is never going back from these commercials.
At least they followed their “rules” on it that time. It was actually 3 minutes!

What a header for Czechia!

This is my first experience with 4k soccer and I approve.
Fyi all games are in 4K on YouTubetv on Fox. Just have to go to the Fox 4K channel

The commercial breaks were a FIFA thing. Nothing to do with FOX.
Germany and Argentina broadcasts are running them too. Unfortunately I doubt FIFA willl ever go back they will be able to get even more money next cycle from tv broadcasters around the globe.

Serious quesiton for Chicken.... why do golf majors get to have a thread on More Sports Board when there is a Golf Board but the biggest sporting event in the world is not able to have a thread on More Sports Board?
Think NOLA will get one at Tulane’s Yulman stadium at some point
UFL Spring Football - Season Kickoff
Posted by pjk481 on 3/28/26 at 12:45 pm
UFL kicks off season this weekend. Good game last night between Birmingham and Louisville.
Today:
St Louis v DC (now on ESPN)
Houston v Dallas (3pm Fox)
Tomorrow:
Columbus v Orlando (7pm ESPN)
3 new team this year. All playing in smaller MLS stadiums except St Louis and Bham.
Seems like they may finally have a sustainable product with season 3 kicking off.
