Round 2 is ~2 weeks away depending on how deep this series goes. IF we somehow pull it off, and Zion has been 5 on 5 for two weeks while ramping up intensity, I could see him playing.

It’s not a zero percent chance.

Let’s say we get lucky and beat Phoenix. If the Jazz advance, I like our chances without Zion.

Which would mean conference finals a month out. Then I’d revisit it.

But that’s a pipe dream, for now.

maybe.. but what happens when we're at game seven tied 3-3, or starting a series against Utah? and we're still telling Zion to dick around in the gym with Teresa?

Then you let him play a little from the bench. If we’re really playing THAT meaningful of basketball you have to give the guy some time, especially if it’s the next series.

Another thing we need to remember - Zion has played 0 minutes with the following players:

Herb
Jonas
CJ
Jose
Nance
Murphy
Graham

Essentially, outside of BI, this is a totally different team. It isn’t a steph curry situation where he’s coming back to largely the same core guys he’s been playing with.

I say just suit him up and walk him out Willis Reed style. The Blender would go nuts.

Zion is a member of the New Orleans Pelicans basketball team. If he is deemed healthy by the powers that be, (FO, coaches and doctors), then he should play. It will then be up to the coaching staff to use him in such a way that will make his skills cohesive and fluid as to be a seamless fit with the tough and high IQ team that we have now become.

The notion that a player of Zion's abilities would, perhaps, off kilter a basketball team is hard for me to believe. Even if all he gives is presence under the basket with little to no "play making," his magnetism alone would open everything up.

We play this game for the post-season play. The ultimate goal is to win a championship. There are only so many chances in a team dynamic where that may happen. Having a superstar, once released to play, not playing for whatever reason is totally irrational. When ready, he will dominate.

Amen bro.

If zion can go, he’s gotta play. Tomorrow is not guaranteed.

They just had this discussion on NBA radio. Basically, nothing new. The host says pull the bubble wrap off. Amin, who used to work for the Suns, says he knows how Nelson and the training staff think and that Zion isn't playing because he's not meeting the baseline of whatever tests they think he needs to pass to play.

If you want to sell out the arena for season tickets next year. Let Zion come off the bench and play well.

but there's absolutely a set of guidelines, and anyone who thinks that we are deviating from them is nuts.

Its obvious guidelines are in place, the question becomes if the guidelines are correct for Zion situation. There isnt 1 set way to rehab. Different trainers/docs have different ways of doing things. Who knows if Nelson is right in this situation.

Based on games lost to injury since he's been in the league, Aaron Nelson has consistently overseen teams with some of the fewest games lost to injury, and salvaged/prolonged a number of players careers.

So, given we are all amateurs, I'd say based on the results, there's a pretty good chance Nelson is in the right here.

Well, that's the thing: Zion absolutely did not agree with Nelson two years ago. Which is why Zion got his own private doctor involved this time and they all agreed together on a plan.

We would play Memphis is we both win right because we would be the lowest seed and they would be the highest right?

The fan base hasn’t been this engaged in a decade. They even captured the heart of Zion and got him back to the city. Funny what happens when you get players who want to be here, play hard, and win

It may not be discussed in detail or at all by the team but this seems obvious.

What reason or facts do we have to even insinuate that the dude well regarded as the best trainer in the NBA may be wrong here?
