Zion shouldn't be eating anything.

Its frustrating, and I get the sentiment cause I have to stop myself from saying the same thing, but at the end of the day we simply don't know what the doctors and training staff knows.
Zion is also not a great arbiter of his own health. Twice he has declared himself healthy enough to play, only to reaggravate those injuries or add new related ones.
So at least twice when he didn't follow team doctors/trainers he reaggravated injuries or had set backs. So I'm gonna defer to them over us amateurs that have no insight.

I have no idea if Zion plays a single game the rest of the year or not…
But what I will say is this. Based on these first t2 games, if we had Zion we would be up 2-0 against the best team in the NBA, and that’s something to be extremely excited for as an organization.
Also we may be the highest scoring team in the league next year

I understand it wasn't worth the risk when you're staring at Spurs + Clippers + best team in the league...
But you've checked two of those boxes, in a 5 game series with the Suns minus Booker, and potentially staring at a matchup with a Doncic-less Mavs team or a Utah squad that we always play tough

at some point you gotta stop taking these moral victories and expect actual ones
Sure we get Zion back to start next season, but there's no guarantee that anyone else will be healthy next year.

That’s not a moral Victory bro. Getting a win against the best team in the NBA away in the playoffs without an all star is a very real very tangible victory

Yeah for the front office I could certainly see the litmus test requirement being winning one in Phoenix to provide the pathway to activate Zion.
My thoughts are status quo on Friday. Ride the frenzy in the blender.
Announce activation on Saturday
Ride that frenzy on Sunday.

I hear you
If we had Zion the whole playoff seeding looks different.

-WCF is in play
-pels have home court advantage in a 5 game series to get to round 2
-they will avoid both GSW & MEM in round 2 if they get there
game 3 in this series is critical

But thats the thing, we dont know the risks, because we dont have either the medical knowledge to diagnose and rehab, or the info our doctors/trainers have.

should probably start a thread about this, but did you hear Kevin Harlan say there is no documentation available about the injury? It stuck out during the broadcast, as if Turner was implying something. But I digress…

Fine.
He posted a video of himself doing a between the legs dunk a month ago.
He says he's ready to play.
They're going to frick around and wait until he's perfectly healthy to play and then he'll break a finger or something in training camp and we're right back where we are now.

The chemistry and cohesion is fueling this team. Probably in the minority but I don’t want to see Zion this year. He’s not going to step in and just “play a role”. There will be lumps to take immersing him into this roster and now isn’t the time

I guess I take the posture of this, there really is no incentive to not play him if he is healthy to play.
It doesn't benefit anyone in the organization.
Every incentive is there to play him if he's healthy.
So logic tells me he's not playing because he's not deemed healthy enough yet. That the risks are too great at the moment.

I'm really nervous about Zion going through another off-season again, and getting back to camp at 300+ lbs. Hopefully this season was a wake up call for him, and he's bought in to the team finally.
This team with Zion is Top 2 in the West and its not 2.

This is going to be "rumored" before every goddamn game isn't it?

I’m with you to a degree. It would be good for the future of the team for Zion to be on the Court and getting playoff experience.
But there’s a world where it’s a distraction and it detracts from the rotation and team chemistry.
He’s never even PRACTICED with many of these guys let alone played.

But you wouldnt be asking him to play 36 minutes and control the offense.
IF he were to get cleared medically, he would likely come off the bench and take 15 minutes from Hayes and the bench rotation.
Letting Zion have 15 possessions to take the ball at the key and attack second units is probably a net benefit on any team, no matter the situation.

This. A rusty medically cleared Zion is a huge upgrade over any minutes the combo of bench guys we run out there give you. In fact Point Zion would be ideal when you rest BI and or CJ at the end of 1st/3rd quarters.
