Why not Duncan Robinson, Kelly Olynk plus a future first for Jrue? Heat might be willing to do this to not give up Herro and still add Holiday.

You sound just like a heat fan online. If Herro isn’t involved no way Jrue gets traded to the Heat. I’d take other trades that are far better.

Every GM knows the situation with the draft, its why Minnesota is actively trying to trade out of #1.

Do I as a team that needs to compete this year or risk losing my 2 franchise cornerstones in a VERY weak draft with no clear cut #1 player trade the pick for a guard who is a perfect fit next to my two young players?

Absolutely.

Again, the #1 pick this year is actually a negative.

Hawks “insider” updated his Pels info.

quote:

Holiday to MIN is unlikely as he wants to go to a contender. GS doesn't like the terms for Holiday and Ball would have to also be there. GS likes Wiggins and they think he's an asset and not a major liability which other teams don't agree.

Brooklyn will have to move LeVert plus Dinwiddle to land Holiday. NO is not desperate to move Jrue and he wants to return to New Orleans.

Who the hell is your Hawks insider?

I said on the other board that this is one of those super rare situations where you actually have to give more value than you're getting to move down the board.

How wild is that?

Hawks message board version of Crewz. Don’t know anything about him, but the ppl on the board believe hes credible. I’m just posting his Pels related stuff for discussion.

Wiggins would be an asset up to about $7M per year. At $30M, he's a damn albatross around your neck.

Ask yourself, if Minnesota had the #6 pick last year, do you trade Jrue to them for that pick only?

Because that's about the value of the #1 pick this year with how the draft is.

That’s just false. It’s the #1 pick.
At least one person drafted in the top 3 in every draft since 1999 has had at least one all star appearance.

There's no way anyone at Golden State's top brass could think that Wiggins is anything but a negative asset

That is an interesting update. His original post he seemed to be speculating that the Pels want Ball, here he says very directly Ball is our target.

quote:

and Ball would have to also be there [at #2]

It also further confirms that Jrue is looking to get paid, probably more than most of us here are comfortable with. As has happened all offseason, everything keeps coming back to Brooklyn, they're a contender and would likely be willing to pay Jrue his money.

Doesn't mean it's as valuable as #1 picks every other year. People here and in the media are discussing #1 or #2 for Jrue, when any other year you would get laughed at for even suggesting it.

He also mentioned there’s been talks with Bucks and Minny about a Middleton deal for #1 where Bucks will take Ball(why he said no guarantee Ball would be there at 2).

Bucks desperately want to get a pg and aren’t finding much of an upgrade to Bledsoe without Middleton being involved in the deal.

When a supposed “source” starts to claim pretty widely circulated info(Jrue wouldn’t mind staying in New Orleans, if traded would prefer a contender, ) that would also involve having insiders in other offices(anything he is saying about current negotiations that involve the Pelicans and other teams), my bullshite meter jumps to 100.

How would a Hawks insider know this?

Unless their source is fricking Woj, this guy is full of shite.

Golden State HAS to say this. If they tell teams "oh he stinks and his contract sucks we must attach value" then they are screwed.

So of course GS is going to project that.

But its clear that the LuxTax thing in this new version of the CBA benefits a team like them greatly, and they were almost certainly one of the teams pushing for it.

They are all in and I think will be aggressive in making a deal with someone.

Not sure if Indy would even be interested in this, but thought this was relatively equal value:

BKN Gets:
Jrue Holiday

NOP gets:
Myles Turner
TJ Warren

IND gets:
Caris Levert
Jarrett Allen

Indy prolly wouldn't even consider trading Warren on top of Turner, the more I think about it.

I think the Hawks "insider" is using a rumor that ball won't go past #1 and then plugging in teams that it would make sense for like MIL. I doubt there is much more to that.

GSW is of course going to say they see value in Wiggins. I actually think there is a little truth here considering that Steph and Klay can probably make Wiggins better than if he were on any other team. He may be a positive asset to GSW and only GSW for that very reason.

The most interesting part to me is that he said the Nets would have to part ways with Dinwiddie and LaVert. I think he is basing this off of positional need and cap space. The Nets would have to include 2 of Dinwiddie, LaVert, and Prince to make the cap work in a trade. Prince is their best defensive SF and adding Jrue means that Dinwiddie and LaVert would both be coming off the bench for them. If they want Prince for defense and want to keep Allen then Dinwiddie and LaVert make sense if they want Jrue.

Anyone can be an outside insider if they just follow basketball, connect the dots, and don't use bias.

well then good luck convincing the market of that GS.

People aren't exactly going to bend over to help make you back into a contender again either
