re: Pels openly discussing trading Jrue

quote:So, MIN gives up #1 and a future 1st for Jrue? Can't see that. Charlotte is not giving up a lightly protected 1st to move 2 spots. MIN has reportedly offered them that before and they balked. I would imagine they would want it lottery protected if at all.
Just able to catch up on everything, and seen the latest about Minny being hot after Jrue.
It's no secret, Charlotte is in love with Wiseman and wants to trade up for him.
What would everyone think about:
Minny: Jrue
Char: #1, James Johnson (they have to eat the salary as part of the move up)
NOP: #3, 21 Charlotte unprotected 1st, 23 Minny top 10 protected 1st (unprotected in 24)
We are still in position for Hayes, don't have to pay #1 pick salary, and have 2 future 1sts that are very good assets to deal if something comes up, along with opening 27 million in cap space.

Then I tell them to kick rocks and call up Chicago who wants Ball, and add them into the trade. Or NYK. Then they lose Wiseman to GS at #2

I think Huerter is better than this board gives him credit for and would be a good complimentary piece .
Having said that, in addition to Huerter and 6 , I think the Hawks would have to include their 2021 first rounder or one of the two 2022 Firsts that they have ( their own and OKC) . If those aren’t on the table , Pels will do business elsewhere .

Why not Duncan Robinson, Kelly Olynk plus a future first for Jrue? Heat might be willing to do this to not give up Herro and still add Holiday.

Because that’s terrible value for Jrue

Ask yourself, if Minnesota had the #6 pick last year, do you trade Jrue to them for that pick only?
Because that's about the value of the #1 pick this year with how the draft is.

I like the Hawks trade most but I also kind of like this one...who says no?
Pels get Duncan Robinson, Luke Kennard, #7 this year, and Miami’s 2025 1st
Pistons get Kelly Olynyk (buy out candidate), #13, #20, and Lakers 2021 1st
Heat get Jrue

Pistons say no, they want to move up in the draft, not back. Plus they are getting zero value

I’d do that, and if Olynyk is a buyout, then send him our way and we can send out Miller.

Doesn’t make any sense for Detroit

Given how bad or unpredictable the draft is, why not go the vet route or a collection of vets?
The Clips want Holiday as the 3rd piece. How about Holiday for Beverly, Williams and Zubac?
Beverly backs up or starts at PG. Williams combines with Redick to give us a lethal set of shooters, plus he's an expiring. Zubac is 23 and under control a couple of seasons. We have a big hole at Center. He fills it until Hayes is ready.
Not the sexiest package. But it gives us a really deep experienced team. Van Gundy would love it and we would be much tougher and better. Other than snagging the best wing available at 13, we'd be set for the season..

If we are going the vet route, then you just keep Jrue and trade Ball for Derrick Rose.
It doesn't make sense to bring back vets for Jrue, because let's face it, unless someone suffers a major injury Pels will not make the playoffs this year.
There are good players to be had in this draft, the issue is you have an overabundance of 4-8 type players than any true #1 guys. So trading to 1 or 2, you're paying a guy #1 salary who would normally be drafted #6 in any other year.
That's why I'm kind of keen on getting in that 3-6 range. It's a good base of value.

What could be added to the Pistons to make them bite? Would love Robinson on this team.

Nothing. Pistons are hoping to get Lamelo Ball.

Listening to John Hollinger on the Chad Ford podcast and he suggested:
Jrue and JJ for Wiggins, Looney, 2, and the Minnesota pick.
Not that it is anything really different than what we've heard before, just including it as someone else speculating about a Warriors trade.

I'm pretty sure we can go ahead and take JJ out of any trade scenario with the hiring of SVG.

Too much value from us imo. I don’t think we give up JJ and Jrue, our two best vets, in one deal.
We have to keep one of those guys imo.
