CJ is already going to be coming off the bench in this current iteration of the Pels…
They’re not sending Herb to the bench

If CJ is on the roster he’s not coming off the bench, I don’t know why y’all even waste your time entertaining that

So Ingram is going to the bench?
They already said in the DJM press conference that DJM and Herb will be starting together, so it’s either Ingram or Zion coming off the bench, and it’s definitely not gonna be Zion.

Can you find any quote that discusses McCollum coming off the bench?

Zion will likely close at the 5, he’s not starting games at the 5.
It will be either Theis or Karlo starting at the 5

It’s called common sense and reading between the lines.

I would not be surprised if the current roster construction causes some friction between Willie and Griff. Hard to keep so many guys happy, keep Zion healthy for a full season, and win with this fit.
We cannot ask Z to play the 5 for more than those 4-5 minutes at the end of the game. His body will not hold up. It’s asking too much of a guy to ask him to be an explosive generational athlete and a banger down low at the same time at 6’6”
The 5 was a weakness last year. It’s a disaster as currently constituted. Griff needs to fix it before the season somehow. If he’s going to insist on this group, quit half assing it and go get a center.

You are devoid of reality. 30M+ players (near max) do not willingly come off the bench. Its beyond humbling and disrespectful. You have to give him the opportunity to fight for his spot. If he can't start, he'll want to be traded. Then his value is tanked, cause we just said he's not a starter anymore. It's a catch 22. We F'd this up.
BTW, I think McCollum would be an incredible 6th man. He's a top 15 SG in the league, so he'd be awesome in that role. But guys like him, that are paid like him, don't do willingly do that. He can't. That goes against competitive nature.
He's not coming off the bench. He's either starting here or somewhere else..

We're gonna start 6 players!

This again. I don't understand. Did people not actually watch when we played small last season?
When we play small, Zion normally does not guard the opposing center. It's usually Herb or BI. In fact, at the end of the season, it was usually BI, and he performed fine in that role. When he first came to the Pels, BI was too skinny for that, but he added some muscle and was fine in that role last season.
It's an advantage for the Pels to have the ability to switch coverages. They can put Herb, BI, Trey, or Zion on the opposing center on any given possession -- which can really make it hard for the opponent to get in an offensive rhythm.
Willie loves defense, and I bet he's excited by the opportunities with that group. As an assistant, he won titles with the Warriors playing small.

I don’t see how people like you believe the FO and coaching staff didn’t go to CJ before the trade went down and let him know that they would be doing it.
CJ is VERY smart, he knows what his role will be and what he will have to do to ensure he’s in the best role for this team to win.

Say the whole quote..
He said it was disrespectful they benched him for a rookie.
That’s the part y'all are missing from that.
DJM is taking over the PG spot normally occupied by CJ, that’s a far cry from getting bench for Podz

The fact is you are making this all up and it never happened. Nobody told McCollum that he is being benched. It would be a big story if they did, which never happened.
If they went to camp with this same group, which I don't believe that they will, every position and spot will be up for competition. They would give McCollum, and every other player, the chance to play for their roles. They wouldn't have told him that 3 months before the season and before they finished building the team..

I don’t believe they will either, but this current iteration has CJ on the bench.
Now can that change? Sure. Ingram can be sent out for Kessler and Collins on Tuesday after a Lauri extension, then Pels are out of the tax, have their starting 5 and everyone is happy.
In that case then Trey and CJ are competing for the final starting spot, and I still believe that CJ comes off the bench because he knows Trey deserves to start and this team is better with Trey starting than with him on the bench.
CJ will embrace that 6th man role, he would be a shoe in to win 6MOY, and still be in the closing lineup.
New CC article hinting at Jazz calling for Ingram on Tuesday also LINK

You keep saying this but the current "repetition" or "procedure" would be including CJ/ BI on the starting roster.
Attaining Murray diminishes Herb/ Trey's role until BI is gone not CJ's role. We have needed a PG to play NEXT to CJ. And it just so happened we get this guy who fits perfect AND compliments CJ's defense? Crazy. Lets just split up their minutes now and force CJ to play PG off the bench....Dumb.
Herb does NOT have to start. Not saying he shouldn't and not saying he should. But he is the 1 player that has the luxury of plugging in with any lineup and filling a void. Because of that it makes sense that Trey/ Herb off the bench until BI is gone.
If we don't play a 5 then take your pick between Herb/ Trey.
Murray brings offense/ defense and stability to the team we already have. We do not need to rely on Herb locking up the best player to be better. That's what y'all are ignoring. He isn't a "need" in the starting lineup, he is a "luxury".
Meanwhile CJ is a negative off the bench and you can't play a Jose/ Hawk/ CJ lineup for the 100th time.

If you do this then you are openly wanting to play our worst lineup/ rotation that we could put out and minimizing the plethora of talent we currently have.
Let's have a higher level of thinking than "Good player start anywhere" and actually think about what certain lineups do to our rotations..

Awesome follow up. You captured exactly what I have been trying to say. Thank you..

It's simple CJ will start because of his salary. Having a $32M bench player is not a good look for Griff especially when the team will be taxed and not a contender.
I believe CJ is being shopped but there are zero takers given the new CBA. CC mentioned in his podcast that the Pels attempted to include CJ in the ATL deal.

If tweet fails to load, click here. I find the wording on this interesting "unlikely that Markkanen will sign the new deal by Tuesday". Tuesday is the earliest he can sign, not a deadline. It has already been speculated that it would be advantageous for Lauri to sign on Wednesday to make sure he isn't traded this season.
