You keep naming Bogut as this big piece and reason they won. You do realize they won three ships with him not on the roster. Can you even name the other big center they had besides Looney?
Draymond

They still got 20+ minutes of quality center play in those championship teams in the playoffs
2016-17: Pachulia & McGee
2017-18: Looney & McGee; one can even argue Bell
2018-19 (Loss): Cousins, Looney, and even Bogut again
As much as Iike the potential, none of these guys are close to what Looney & McGee did defensively.

We aren't a championship team anyways. But Missi and Karlo can hopefully bring that type of production in time... Just not this year.
Until Zion proves that he can come into the season in optimal shape and stay healthy enough to play in late April and in May, it probably won't matter.
At the end of the day, Zion has to show that he's ready to physically and mentally take it to the next level. It's on Zion. Always has and always will be as long as he's here.

The Euro part was posted on Twitter not long before he signed. I didn’t know the Pels were going to sign him at the time, but I remember thinking he must be only getting minimum offers and this was an effort to try and get more. It definitely seemed more agency leak than news.

Bruh Kevin Durant is 7 feet tall. If it was a game that mattered, only he or dray played center. Plus we’re talking about a team that had the greatest 3 point shooter in nba history, kind of a bad example as there will never be another Steph.
You don’t need a star big like you used to pre-2015ish, but you need a good big to win in the NBA.

I’d argue there will be more and more Steph’s. It’s not like he’s a 6’8 240 genetic freak.

Saw Grizzlies waived Jemison. I would like to see the Pels sign him to a 2-way.

We should sign him immediately. He might actually get minutes at our center rotation.

I wanted Jemison to get a 2 way from the Pels last year so we could see him against NBA competition. Instead he played 23 games with the Grizzlies and his per 36 numbers were a little disappointing to me. Mainly just 8.4 rebounds per 36. I thought he was going to be a much stronger rebounder based on what I saw of him here, but that's as bad as the centers we already have.
If they aren't going to sign anybody else or trade for anybody before the season starts then sure, he's a big body and we might need that, but he's still a fringe NBA player for a reason.

I’ll take a fringe NBA player who has played real NBA minutes at center on a 2 way deal. He was also was on a bad team and thought he had a solid game against us.

I'm trying to figure out what the hell we are doing with our 2 way contracts.
1. Cain - no clue who he even is and we don't need SF
2. Malcolm Hill- gaurd and not needed.
3. "Open" - pretty sure Keion Brooks has this 3rd one but I haven't heard any confirmation.
Why are we waisting (2) on PG/SF?
We should keep Brooks for PF depth and then add (2) centers knowing our current situation.

We kind of do need 3&D wing depth. We lost Dyson and Naji. Murray will cover for that some, but not in all matchups.

I think you treat two ways like you should treat the draft. You don't draft for a specific position, you take the BPA. Same with two ways. You don't keep a PF/C just b/c that's where we lack in our roster. These are guys that at best may turn into nba rotation guys, at the very best. Doesn't matter what position they are, you should be strictly keeping guys that you think can develop into a nba roster guy that maybe one day will have some value to you.

Not sure I completely agree. Almost feel like the only reason we signed Matt Ryan early last season on a 2 way was due to Trey being hurt and us lacking a 3pt threat. I think it can be both- its smart to add depth at a position or skill your lacking on the team on a 2 way but yes they can also be used just for development as well. I don’t think its strictly BPA. Its why I would advocate signing Jamison on a 2 way.

What is the point of having Ryan and Reeves on the roster then? You aren't going to play Cain > the current (14) roster spots or any rotations that come out.
Murray/ Jose/ Reeves
CJ/ Hawk/ Trey
Herb/ BI/ Ryan
Zion/ JRE
Thies/ Karlo/ Missi
Keion Brooks makes sense and so does (2) more PF/ C's considering 5/5 of those roster spots are unproven, old, or injury prone.

Yeah except we don't draft for BPA so I'm almost 100% confident our fricking 2 way players aren't "BPA" selections. Malcolm Hill was a continuation signing and again Cain is a nobody.
We should be filling those spots with players that have the best chance of getting minutes this season. That would be the most valuable....

Same as Hawkins and Ryan last year, injury depth. Both Trey and BI were out when Hawkins and Ryan got run to start last season. Zion might have been out too because I remember some of those games were just JV, CJ and shooters.
I think Willie will give Hawkins a chance to crack the rotation because he's a hard worker that will hustle and try to do what the coaches want. But I would not be shocked if Cain was getting minutes over Hawkins during the season because 1A) defense, and 1B) more defense, Willie will not want to play Hawkins and CJ together which limits where/when Hawkins can get some run.

100% agreed. But there's 0 minutes for either at PG or SF.
Even if they both get injured then you have Reeves/ Ryan and your usual support.
I just don't see any realistic scenario where a 2 way guard/ SF get any minutes on this roster.
We are talking about playing small ball and not getting a center because we can't play all of our guys at PG-SF already.
With a whole roster of "positionless" players we have (2) that legit can't play any other position. And they play the same position.
Because of this Hawk is already one our biggest limitations and that's before he starts shooting this year.

Imagine Jose missing time with injury. You're down to Herb, Murray, and Trey as your defensive wings, and I'm being kind of generous with Trey there.
I honestly don't know much about Cain, but I looked up defensive highlights with the Heat and he actually had a video or 2. He seems like he can play defense ok and has good enough size.
A lot can change still. Maybe they do Hawkins for Kessler and Willie doesn't care about defensive wings as much. But with what we have currently, including the coach, I see why they signed Cain to a 2 way and didn't play him in Summer League. They brought him in as break in case of emergency wing depth.
