Since it seems like a BI trade won't work right now, I wonder what we could get for a CJ trade?
With how good Wemby already is I imagine the Spurs are trying to be as competitive as soon as possible so that they don't risk losing him. They already have Wemby and then other young guys like Castle, Vassell, and Sochan. Adding CJ to Paul and Barnes not only makes them an interesting team, but all of them could bring out the best in their young guys and help to develop them. Plus they have a ton of picks so giving up one probably wouldn't be a big deal.
Jazz get: Spurs 1st, Pels 1st, and Keldon Johnson
Spurs get CJ
Pels get: Kessler and Sexton

Jazz aren’t looking to get better this season. They owe a top 10 protected pick to OKC and are likely to try and be just worse than that. They move Lauri for salary matching and picks then they probably pull it off.

It's unfortunately been obvious for a while that's where we're heading. It really seems that Griff and BI's agent are just too far apart to get an extension done.
If no one will give us much of value for him, because no one wants to give him the bag he's looking for, then we might as well keep him this season and try to win with him. If Zion gets hurt again or something, then we could still try to trade BI at the deadline.

The problem, and this is will be the same problem at the deadline, is trading for BI gives him leverage in contract negotiations with the team that trades for him. If no team truly wants to max him out, no team is going to want to trade for him if he doesn’t sign an extension. And he has no reason to sign an extension.

I can already see his camp making the decision to play out the season instead of conceding for a lesser contract and wait for next off-season for the money they want. I think there's a better chance they get it if he's a free agent going into the market next season.

Worse case scenario for Pelicans.
You have to play him to get his value back up, but now you are actively hindering two of your young stars progression.

Some team is going to come out of the gates better than everyone expected and decide to push in chips to get him like Indiana did last year with Siakam.
Whether that’s San Antonio, Toronto, Sacramento, Portland etc remains to be seen, but someone will do it especially if he comes into the season showing he can adapt to an off ball role

But if BI plays like shite again, he's not going to get paid, so he should be motivated to play better and buy in hopefully.

Maybe but there's a ton of mouths to feed on this roster. If im his camp I want him to be somewhere where he'll get a ton of shots. Here he'll have to split with Z, Murray, CJ, and Trey

Ainge is just having bloggers carry his water now. He is going to find that he doesn't have the same leverage as he did in Boston, where guys want to go.
