I doubt Caruso costs much more than Giddey's current salary.
Caruso is going to get the MLE at minimum on his next deal (~13 mil per season) barring some sort of injury this season.

Kessler could be moving? Sounds good for us.
He is the kind of piece we would want going forward as a center.

Mitchell Robinson as well. Injury and FT concerns there, but good player otherwise.

That would be dumb
The logical move is Ingram for JSJ and 3, don’t give up any picks and move Ingram
Clingan being the target is also dumb

Don't get me wrong I like Clingan but of all the trade up opportunities we've had, HE is the guy we use our assets on?
We apparently loved Lively last year. It would have cost a hell of a lot less to move up a couple spots for Lively last year than trading up for Clingan now.
Now that Griff is desperate he's willing to use picks. I have a bad feeling. Griff reeks of desperation, and some team is going to take him to the cleaner because of it

Giving up 3 picks for a top 3 pick in what is considered one of the worst drafts in awhile would be peak Pels

If you ask Jazz fans, you'll hear stuff about how he isn't a good passer and doesn't set good screens. But he's also 22, the same age as a lot of guys coming out in this year's draft, and he's far from a finished product.
And he absolutely excels at the stuff that can't be taught. He's only rivaled by Wemby as a rim protector, he's a great rebounder, and he'd provide the vertical spacing we need for lobs.
Of course I want us to get him, but I also don't get why the Jazz are so clearly trying to get rid of him.

It's peak David Griffin asset mismanagement. Hoard assets until they lose almost all their value and try to buy when your leverage is at an all time low.
Griff buys high and sells low.

Its Mac- lets relax. If even thats the case- could be for Sheppard who knows.

I'd like to think it's a smoke screen but Griff just lost a lot of his checks and balances in the last 2 weeks. Swin and Bryson need to step up and keep things from going off the rails. Back to back tweets of Kessler's availability and the Pels wanting to give up multiple picks to draft Clingan is just terrible.
Hopefully the 2 tweets actually are related and Griff is trying to make Ainge lower the price on Kessler.

Ainge has a ton of draft capital. For all I know he thinks he sees a better prospect for their timeline either via trade or the draft and wants to cash in while Kessler has value.

I really can’t decide what I think of Clingan. The guy is a starting center, no doubt I think. He’s not just big, he’s huge. 7’3, nearly 300 lbs and nearly 7’7 wingspan. He’s highly decorated coming off a national championship. When you watch him, he looks like he’s just lumbering or laboring around. But he has what I would call fast bursts. And has more than proven to be a willing screen setter, passer, shot blocker, etc. interesting prospect that I expect to go high, whether us or someone else.
I don’t think I would give up three first round picks, though not all firsts are created equal. I also wouldn’t trade out of that spot for less.

This would be dependent on what else is in play.
If the trade is:
21st pick in worst draft + 25'+ 26'
For #3/ Whitmore or #3/ Eason
Then it would be worth it. Our picks the next few years aren't supposed to be low.....
If say BI for Murray straight up is in the works then this allows us to get our C at #3 while still getting 1 or 2 role players that would have higher value then our picks.
Our fans put way too much value in our future picks while also having hope we become a contender.
You can't highly value all of our picks but also expect them to be #24-30

Well, if Griffin had his way, we would have traded Ingram for Scoot last year.

At this point I’m wondering if this has any chance at happening. The Hawks really value Herb but that’s a no go. If we were willing to offer Herb this deal would have been done at the trade deadline this past season.

I think that was more Zion for Scoot.

If we were willing to trade Dyson then it would have been done aswell.
I truthfully think Hawks wanted Herb/ BI for Trae and Dyson/BI for Murray. And we prob countered with Dyson/BI for Murray/ Okongwu. Which I kinda hope we didn't. If we hold strong i think the BI/ Murray swap could def be a thing.
And if that's true then its the exact type of move that makes sense to get our guy this draft and add a few role players.
Essentially we wouldn't need our 1sts the next 3 years because we plan to retain just about all of our players past that time frame and also plan to compete.
Herb
Zion
Trey
Dyson
Hawkins
Ingram trade piece
#3
Whitmore/ Eason
Lakers pick
We would have our 9-10 core pieces locked for 4+ years and would want to be a team adding savvy vet mins at that point.
So yes if things go well then we really don't hope to be using our picks the next few years or have lottery picks. Nor do we have the space if it works out.
