AD trade - anyone could have done that

Come on. Let's not pretend that what he got for AD wasn't a trend starter. Nobody thought we would get that much. You are still seeing the effects of it with the CJ trade.

The revisionist history on the AD trade is amazing, do people not remember how bad Toni tried to screw us. The dude had his dad come out and make up some bs excuse why he doesn't want his son to ever play for the Celtics because of the way they treated IT.

To get as much as we did from the Lakers who was the only trade option was amazing we got a lot more than we did for CP3 who had a way bigger market.

Also the Val trade is really underrated with his reasonable extension.

Now that’s a STRETCH. Far more?

Hiring SVG more than cancels out firing SVG.
The Adams trade and extension .
Bledsoe.
Trading the 4th pick was still bad even Jaxson has played well for the past 5 games now in his third season.
Letting Lonzo out the door for shite.

One thing Griff has done that not all GMs do, is pretty quickly cut bait or work to fix mistakes.

- Firing SVG after 1 year.
- Bringing Gar Forman in as a draft consultant. Next thing you know instead of high ceiling 19 year olds, they bring in Trey, Herb and Jose. I'm not saying that's all Forman, but it does fit his draft style. They needed change and seem to have gotten it.
- Trading Bledsoe and Adams
- Trading Sato, NAW and Didi.

Bledsoe

Not going to put that on Griff. Bledsoe was a solid player who decided not to play basketball anymore when he got here.

Didn’t like it then and still don’t like it, but it helped us get CJ. If Jax can be consistently as good as he flashes it has potential to be a good move.

Im more faulting Griff for the deadline before the trade. Once he became an RFA I think everyone knew he didn’t want to be here and we weren’t gonna match, so I’m not sure we could have gotten much more. Now at the deadline before he became an RFA? Yeah

Technically we traded Lonzo for CJ if you can look at it that way…..

I think at the end of the day the next season is going to largely write Griff's legacy.

He bought himself another year, and actually earned it with this IMO.

But at the end of the day we are on three coaches in three years, three supporting casts around Zion/Bi in three years, have never made the playoffs, and there is still uncertainty around our franchise players trust in this organization to commit beyond getting his first big bag.

I don't think C is an unfair grade, BUT, the rest of this year and next can change that quite notably, in both directions. If the CJ trade is a homerun, if we are a top 5 seed next year and rolling, Griff moves up at least a letter grade and some.

I really like this trade but the national sites are making it seem like NOLA was in desperation mode and made a risky decision? I am guessing they never watched NAW play outside of the highlights from the handful of games he went off.

CJ
Herb
BI
Zion
Jonas

That is an All Star line up for a small market team.

I had losing Hart but it was pretty much a done deal when he signed his contract that he would get traded.

if they go out vs 4 seed in round one in a competitive series there will still be complaints.

its time to enjoy present time basketball. as it is.

His veteran player endorsed Stan and said he would be perfect to lead the team, which is the only reason he was hired.

The Adams trade and extension

Yup, turned out bad

Bledsoe

Dont get that 2027 1st without taking his salary

Its always easy to revisit the draft. Every draft pundit had players 4-8 graded almost exactly the same. Also, he was just hired and unable to put together an actual scouting team. Combine those factors, its better to take more bites at the apple.

Part of that "shite" just landed us CJ McCollum

They better be lottery protected

It's our own first this year

Blazers get it if it's 5-14 and pels keep it if 1-4.

McCollum is a great fit with ingram. I'm been wanting the pels to trade for McCollum for the past year or two.
