No big deal, & doesn't mean much to us, but I thought, before today, Pels had Lakers pick if it was 1-10, and Grizz had it if 11-30. If true I'm guessing Portland now has Lakers' pick if 5-10 and Grizz have it if it's 11-30.

I think at the end of the day the next season is going to largely write Griff's legacy.

He bought himself another year, and actually earned it with this IMO.

i agree.

I have not said i didn't like this trade. Hell i've been saying i wanted McCollum for about 2 years now, and i think we got good value for him, even if he doesn't work out great for us, which would only happen if he has lingering injuries.
Like the Cousins trade, this is a trade that is more than worth the risk when you're in New Orleans. Let's just hope it works out better than that one did.

This is our pick. This trade doesn't affect the Lakers pick.

We still own the lakers pick if it falls in the top 10

Also if we do land a top 4 pick this year then the pick for them will convey in 2024

15-30: Hornets get it + Portland gets 23 1st

Scenario 2 is most likely right now, although if we are in the 10th spot and are competition is a injured Lakers team and Minnesota, we have a good chance at making the playoffs, even without Zion.

Weren't we looking to trade a first for Nance like a year ago?

Yeah. I thought that was funny.
Griff finally got his guy.

This is why we gave up a first. Not for cj but for nance

It's very risky for our "all in" move and we didn't exactly get an elite talent, plus we may be fleeced depending on the draft comp.

It's not really a all in move. Cj only has 2 years left on his deal.

You are going to be a good team for those 2 years and all you gave up was a protected first and hart.

Y’all gave up one first for a guy that a year or two ago would’ve needed to give up much more than that for.

Big picture the Pelicans future is hardly impacted negatively. If things go south, you’ll have your picks. If things go south, it won’t be because of this trade. It will be for the guy that hasn’t suited up yet this season.

Yea, they still have a carousel of picks, got to keep the majority of their young players, and retained all of their core pieces. It couldn't have went any better for the team.

There Pels future as contenders is all on Zion’s shoulders. CJ helps prop up the roster to Zion. It’s why all the media pundits are mad. NYK looks like shite right now in comparison.

And a reminder ESPN could easily be renamed the CAA Network.

Even Kevin O'Connor and Vernon have made cracks about how much CAA's tentacles run through ESPN and how it shades their coverage of things like Zion

It’s not a great return for us considering what we could have got for him not that long ago.

I like it for CJ though. He’s a dawg out there and battles.

Yep. Y'all should've traded cj the first time around. Waited a year too long.

Blazers were dead in the water.

trade - anyone could have done that. that's like saying good job draft Zion.
Jrue trade - anyone could have done that.
Willie Green - good move, should have happened a year

I don't even think willie green was his first choice.

Funny thing is many people on here hated the willie hire.

What Blazers spent to get Powell, Covington, Nance:
— Gary Trent
— Rodney Hood
— Derrick Jones
— 3 first round picks

What Blazers get from trading Powell, Covington, Nance:
— Eric Bledsoe
— Justise Winslow
— Keon Johnson
— 1 first round pick

They should've just kept gary trent.

Crazy thing is the media is shitting on the pels for this trade but caris levert just got a protected first rounder.

Why shouldn't cj pull that and much more?

By the way i like caris levert as a player.

National media hates the trade because they see this helping the Pels win and all but guarantees Zion signs his extension. They want him in a big market and they want everything we do to be terrible to push Zion to a early exit.

That first is even in question because CJ’s value is higher than Nance’s.

It’s really only 2 1st round picks going out (the nance pick is lottory protected until 2028 then turns into a 2nd).

The Powell for GTJ trade looks bad in hindsight but it was a good trade at the time. We needed to trade CJ last offseason the moment Powell came back.
