I'm ok with this...means Bucks may not be as good as they hoped to be...sucks for Jrue but I want them picks.

Kenrich Williams and Frank Jackson did not receive qualifying offers from the New Orleans Pelicans and both will be unrestricted free agents when FA starts tonight, according to a source.

That's not surprising. Those are the kind of players you could bring back on a minimum deal after your other moves have been made.

Correct no need to take up cap holds for the likes of them.

Rather save those spots for veterans. They have enough youth on the team.

One thing I keep coming back to. Either Lonzo is your wing, or you move him for one.

This is an interesting point and kind of true if you think about the long term roster.

Kira/Ingram/Lonzo/Zion/Hayes

Lonzo needs to take a huge jump on defense for me to be comfortable with that.

Various teams project these players to land max contracts after free agency begins tonight in 3+ hours:

*Pelicans restricted free agent Brandon Ingram

*Max extensions for Boston's Jayson Tatum and Utah's Donovan Mitchell from the draft class of 2017

*The Lakers' Anthony Davis

Reimagning Lonzo as a Point Forward is sort of interesting but I'm personally not willing to go through that experiment. I'd rather just move him to someone that foresees him as their PG.

They really do just need to trade Lonzo for a wing if there’s a situation available to make that happen

He’s going to have to be a lot better at the rim if they plan to something like that in the half court or else he’s basically your 3 and D wing with some passing ability.

here's the thing...
i think theres enough evidence thus far that lonzo is not a PG, among other teams. question is, does lonzo think he's a PG?

if he does, he'd be best served by seeking a trade himself. where that would be is unknown

For my understanding, if we're an over the cap team, how does the cap hold really affect us?

It doesn't, but you never know what kind of cap shenanigans these teams will try to pull. We assume we will be an over the cap team.

He is a point. He just doesn’t have the skills at the basket to be an effective one in the half court set.... at least not at this moment. If he goes into the season with the Pelicans, this is something we all will be paying a lot of attention to. If he somehow develops some kind of a consistent shot at the basket, he’s your PG for the foreseeable future.

Lonzo was one of the best perimeter defenders in the league when he played for a coach that bothered to ask for even minimal defensive effort. Ingram looked pretty good on defense, too, before getting here.

I feel really confident Lonzo's gonna be good defensively under SVG. I probably have more questions about his offense.

Yea I’m not worried about his defense. There’s evidence that both Ball and even Ingram has played good defense during their careers in LA. I think the issue falls more so on Gentry and his offensive philosophy than the players. Holiday looked bad for for a good part of the season as well.
