Can we take anything from the fact, or have any alternative theories regarding the fact that we have made 1 Free Agent signing this year, 4 days into FA?
Yeah our big move to acquire two starters was in a trade.
But we've only added two depth pieces to last year's roster: a rookie and a vet min Center.
Is it just as simple as we wanted to strengthen the starting lineup while also acquiring assets, now we are just waiting out to see what vets will take the minimum...
or is something bigger in play?

Didi has already been announced to remain in Australia another season which I am good with. He'll be our rookie next season.

My only guess is potentially another trade but I'm not positive on that. I think it's going to be two more vet guys to and that's that. Trades right now would require a lot of cap gymnastics and with training camp starting in a week and guys have to be in local market by the weekend we may just want to get them here and get going...

I agree, it is likely as simple as that. It has just struck me as odd how passive and silent we have been when we have a pretty aggressive guy in Griff. Its not like every decent vet minimum has been to a contender, some guys have signed with some average and below average teams.

He re-signed in Australia on October 1, so I think he is staying barring opt out language or us paying a buyout.

I really don't want to go into the season with 5 guards (Bledsoe, Ball, Redick, NAW, Kira) and having only 2 of them as proven players that can run an offense. I would rather have a backup vet guard that can run the point.
Hell I would probably take a chance on Isaiah Thomas. Not good enough where we have no choice but to play him over NAW, but good enough to play if NAW struggles

once the decision was made to trade for adams, that took free agents off the table. they cannot use the exceptions as that would put them into the tax.
its that simple.
they traded their chance to use the MLE this season in the holiday/adams swap

Now that Delly is off the board the next lead guard I want is Napier
Posted on 11/23/20 at 2:50 pm to BallHawk
I would have preferred Napier over Delly anyway

Delly deal is a 1 year vet min

Well, the deal last year was that we had until some date in December to being him over. I don't know if the deal works the same way this year or not.

We've got to be looking at that to lower our salary as well as address the need at SF.
Look at what Atlanta has at the 2/3/4 positions
Reddish
Hunter
Huerter
Snell
Solo
Gallo
Collins
That's not include Dunn/Rondo, who i presume will play backup PG roles, and Okongwu, who will also need minutes.
Someone has to go. I don't see Solo getting minutes unless there are injuries, same for Snell, even though he's a 40% 3 point shooter. That's 6 guys for 3 positions. Gallo/Collins/Hunter/Reddish are going to play 30 minutes. that's 120 minutes and there's only 24 minutes left to dish out between Huerter/Okongwu, and possibly Dunn.
Just seems obvious that Huerter needs to go if they can get something positive back for him, as they can give Snell his minutes and be just as productive.
I still want to make this happen:
Lonzo to Hornets
PJ Washington and Huerter to Pels.
Hornets send future first to Atlanta.

I'm definitely not opposed that deal...
I also think another guy out there that would be interesting as a 1/2 would be Allonzo Trier.

Apparently he is taking English lessons right now...that tells me he isn't ready to step on the court for us yet.
Posted on 11/23/20 at 3:16 pm to Solo
Someone posted a video clip earlier in the month and his English is fine. Now that Will Weaver got a job with the Rockets, I wonder if they want to bring Didi back sooner than later.

So now the trade has gone through, what’s stopping us from announcing BI? Is it getting to the point now where we have to question what’s going on?
Posted on 11/23/20 at 3:41 pm to TigerinATL
I'm like 99% sure that we could still bring Didi back for this season. I just don't know what the deadline is, of if we would want to. If they are going to do it, I think that they would do it soon. With the NBL delaying the start of the season for a 2nd time to mid-January, it's not like we likely wait and see how he does there and then bring him over.
Posted on 11/23/20 at 3:47 pm to NolaTiger52
No, if word were coming out that other teams were sniffing around him then I would start to worry.
I'm kind of getting the idea that our front office doesn't let too much leak out until its official.
Could just be a case of BI wanting to sign in person for his first ever HUGE deal, and he will do it later this week when he's back in market
