This is just a trope in movies generally, but the extended dialogue scene where the villain unveils their diabolical plan while the hero is captured only serves to waste time and leads to the plan failing spectacular.

Doing an in order rewatch and just watched the 1st Avengers Sunday. If Loki doesn’t allow himself to get caught, he doesn’t kill Coulson. Which is what gave them their push to work together

WALL-E. If Auto had a secret mission to ensure that they never returned to Earth, why didn't he just disable the EVE program and stop sending out probes entirely instead of trying to steal the plant?
I always presumed that his protocols insisted that he keep sending the probes, and then when something was discovered THAT is when the new protocol kicked in. Until that point, proof that the Earth was uninhabitable was probably considered a good thing.

It was Talia’s plan.

In their defense
It’s a spaceship the size of a fricking moon and it’s exhaust port is the size of a Wamprat
I mean, that’s a lot of exhaust that they got down to 1 port.

Sollozzo’s men failing to put two in the head of Vito Corleone after shooting him in the back five times. They could have taken Fredo out as well, that weasel.

Rogue One explained that though. The exhaust port was left there and open intentionally to sabotage it.

Actually, drinking from it without someone doing it first was the biggest mistake.

In just about every scenario the villain loses when he/she has the advantage it always comes down to some variation of what "Scott Evil" is try tp explain to his dad:
Scott Evil: I have a Gun
Scott Evil: I have a Gun
