so even if Evan and Ruth were killed, there is still some entity on the island that we dont know about, right? I just dont know how that ends.
Or does it with no Warren relative

My understanding is the entity was on the island before it was settled. Warren made a deal with it to sacrifice people to lure it into hibernation so they could remain there and not be subjected to all the supernatural occurrences. If Ruth and Evan die, anybody born on the island could leave, but I don’t think the entity would accept sacrifices and everybody on the island would be in constant danger of supernatural events. They will have to find a way to defeat it to save the residents and end the curse without the death of Evan.

Btw all... I'm starting this one.

I wonder if all deaths on the island count or if they have to be sacrificed in that dungeon. There was other deaths this season that could count towards the bell tolls. The shaman got sucked into the sky and multiple people were killed by the boogeyman.
I don't think it does (that was my thought at first).
There were 9 bell tolls at the beginning of Episode 2.
In the finale, after Kenny was taken in the creepy chair dungeon, the bell tolled 8 times.
It seems like any death doesn't suffice. Otherwise deaths like the Father who hung himself or the Shaman sucked up into the water spout would count. It has to be someone that is actually sacrificed to whatever the frick that entity is in the island's basement.
ETA: Also appreciate the nod to King's IT with it mentioning the fear makes the sacrifices taste better.

I don't think anyone has mentioned yet:
Ruth immediately understood the Trolley Problem and immediately knew what her answer was. She was sharp as a tack and her morality was well thought out. I loved that.

So what is the timeframe they have to get the 9 bodies?
Why did the storm stop after they only gave one sacrifice and not all nine?

I would assume each death appeases it for a temporary amount of time, but all the deaths asked for by the bell toll cause it to go to sleep for a much longer period. I think that is what is implied.

Warren says in episode 6 that nothing would grow or live there until he made the covenant. I assume society would crumble, probably quickly and violently, if Evan were to die.

Who steeps tea for 27 minutes.

The island has some type of entity that is controlling it and Warren made a deal with it to keep it happy. The deal is the sacrifices.
So the sacrifices are temporary, killing Evan is (maybe) permanent?

I took that in a different way. Setting the 9 toll theory aside for a second, which hasn’t been confirmed, I took the 8 tolls as it needs 8 bodies so I started counting:
- reverend
- water spout shaman
- EMT
- EMT
- gas station guy
- maintenance guy in basement
- guy on boat in first ep?
- ?
Couldn’t remember if it was both EMTs and who am I missing? Do we count the boogeyman?
IDK it’s a theory I guess.
