The 2026 Emmy nominations are out. Usually don’t follow the Emmy’s too much but I want WB to win every award it can.

It was nominated for 19 Emmys:

Best Comedy Series
Best Actor in a Comedy Series - Rhys
Best Supporting Actor in a CS - Root
Best Supporting Actress in a CS - O’Flynn
Best Supporting Actress in a CS - Dickey
Best Guest Actor - Linklater
Best Guest Actress - Gilpin
Best Comedy Writing
Best Comedy Casting
Best Comedy Directing
Best Comedy Editing x3
Best Music Composition
Best Music Supervision
Best Sound Editing
Best Sound Mixing
Best Production Design
Best Comedy Cinematography

That's a lot of Comedy noms. I don't know if I would classify it as a comedy per se'. Its got comedic elements in it and the subtleness of the comedy is great, but I view it as a drama/horror with tinges of comedy.

It's an Emmy issue that desperately needs correction (The Bear has really shown the issue with the categories as well).

You have three major Emmy categories: Comedy Series, Drama Series, and Limited or Anthology Series.

Hybrid shows like Widows Bay or The Bear end up in the Comedy series because of their shorter run time and the inclusion of comedy with other themes (horror, drama, etc). But then it puts them up against full-on comedies unfairly IMO.

A third category needs to be created for those hybrid shows. But in the meantime they have to roll with the comedy category.

I don't know. Widows Bay is the funniest show I've seen in a long time. Outside of Shoresy.

I outright howled at a few scenes. It's a comedy with elements of horror/drama.

WB is 100% a comedy. And it is absolutely hilarious.

I understand there are other aspects to it (i.e. drama and horror, although I'm not sure it leans heavily into the drama angle). But it is first and foremost a comedy IMO.

I hope it wins everything, but at a minimum it should win these two:

Best Comedy Writing
Best Comedy Casting

The cast is great and the writing is fricking superb. The subtle bullshite throughout the show is top shelf.

hilarious scene there. I like the whole mix of comedy and horror. The Richard Warren history certainly wasn't a comedy episode and it did seem to be more humor later in the season.
