The first Harry Potter movie was spot-on.

The Deliverance movie was about 95 percent accurate to the book. The only significant parts cut out are the introductions and the very final portions after they make it back home. Besides that, you see the scenes of the movie through the pages of the book.

Inherent Vice is mostly faithful to the book and nails the feel and spirit of it perfectly.

The movie is superior to the book. Outside of a couple of his books palahniuk is a hack.

"The Martian " made only a few changes from the book mostly involving the race of the actors and the characters they played.

"Gone With the Wind" and "The Godfather" were faithful adaptations.

Godfather would be my pick since the movie left out the completely unnecessary and weird parts about that chick's gaping vagine.

LOTR gets hate from a small number of people for not being true enough to the books, but that would have been an impossible task.

So in terms of the best adaptation of a book into a watchable movie, while still doing the book as much justice as possible - that would be my vote.

The “iron man” ending was a joke in the book but they used it for the movie.

I can’t wait for Project Hail Mary adaption.

You mean we didn’t need to know about vagina tightening surgery in an epic tale about the mafia?

While Forrest had a couple of more adventures in the book, ie astronaut, what the movie covered was pretty accurate to the book.
