re: Teacher arrested for clapping in favor of anti-data center speakers at city hall meeting

It's actually quite the opposite. US data centers outnumber the Chinese 10 to 1. The relative performance of frontier models has little to nothing to do with the total numbers of data centers built.
What is actually happening is that extremely well funded tech ventures are using politics for personal gain, fricking over regular people, and dressing it up as needing to beat the Chinese.

The is the problem in Texas and our politicians have zero plans to deal with it. I was hoping things would get bad enough to do something about it but this will just enable the grift even more.

Oh good. Let's go ahead and approve another 50 data centers. I'm everything will work out just fine.

So where exactly are all these crazy advanced weapons? It's too bad they're too expensive and magical to use in this Iran quagmire right now. Maybe if we give Lockheed another $500b they can bring the cost down for us.

Their electric cars are already significantly better than Tesla's, and cheaper.
I don't think people here understand what china has been doing. In the US, the smartest people go to wall street, private equity, etc. In china, investment returns are capped. The smartest people go into engineering, R&D, etc.
Our empire is rotten.

Iran is doing what makes sense for them tactically.
Bombing US "allies" to point out how the only country the US actually gives a shite about in the region is Israel, and inflicting economic damage to the region to apply political pressure in America. Would you prefer they try to kill as many US troops instead?
We bombed their desalination plants, THEN they responded in kind.
We bombed their civilian infrastructure, THEN they responded in kind.
I'm a conservative. I voted for trump. But if you think that we are the good guys in this situation, you need to improve the quality of your news sources.

How the frick does the TABC have the authority to regulate money laundering and gambling?

You guys are misunderstanding the pipeline. You might only have 500k current H1B holders, but many end up getting green cards and then citizenship.
Which leads to 1/3 of silicon valley being Indian. Yes that is true. One fricking third of some of the highest paying jobs in America. For no other reason than they were cheaper for those executive to hire.
I voted for trump, but he and Elon sold out America on this one.

He also pardoned a guy who ran a ponzi scheme. This is fricking disgraceful. Anyone who claims to be conservative should be embarrassed by this.
And yes I voted for him. There is literally no integrity left in this system.

Do blackjack boats use aluminum fuel tanks or poly?
Posted by el duderino III on 9/19/25 at 12:17 am
I'm looking at a 2007 blackjack 224 with a 2019 Suzuki 200 for 29k. Seems like a good deal, but don't aluminum fuel tanks need to be replaced at some point? Just trying to factor that in.

It's more the mystery of what the hell this is that's bothering me. It almost looks like some kind of plant was trying to grow in it.

I figured it out! Lol
What in God's name did I find under this dove breast?
Posted by el duderino III on 9/14/25 at 1:07 pm
So you can see what looks like a hole. At first I thought somehow the crop or something got blown under the muscle, but I pulled the breast off the breast plate and there was some bizarre stuff under there. It almost looked like tree bark or some type of fungus? It was literally attached to the breast bone.

re: First boat recommendations?
Posted by el duderino III on 8/28/25 at 4:47 pm to KemoSabe65
I have plenty of experience fishing, but I'm always on someone else's boat. Pulled trailers maybe 40 times, but never a boat.
The whole appeal of the aluminum boat is that you don't have to worry about beating it up? Aren't they more likely to sink or do they put foam in those as well? Putting kids on a boat that doesn't float when swamped makes me a bit nervous. If I beat up a glass boat it's not the end of the world financially. I was more looking to keep the budget low just so I can learn on a cheaper boat.
