If you really believe this, your reading comprehension skills are subpar.

I personally think they need a black female heroine in the next one

1. The SJW garbage is disgusting I almost turned it off with the female and black guy playing Manor roles. Way to force progressivism on us Disney.

The only part that got to be a bit too much for me was the scene of them running from the storm troopers and Rey constantly saying, "let go of my hand!"

We get it JJ, she's a strong independent woman that doesn't need a man to save her. No need to beat us in the face with it.

Otherwise I thought Ridley was great as Rey.

The actor that plays Fin has a ways to go..

That didn't bother me;

taken in context, Rey is an independent, headstrong person (girl) who's happened to have befriended a lost droid.
She just got jumped by two dudes trying to take that droid, right after the salvage dude offered her a huge payday for said droid. Probably made her a little edgy. The droid then says "hey, that black dude has my master's jacket on. WTF??" and she goes to kick his arse/find out what the hell is going on.
He tells her something pretty hard to believe (other than the fact that he's a stranger and dressed funny, not much reason to buy his tale). She'd probably be trying to decide whether to really believe him, and suddenly Tie Fighters are strafing her.
I'm gonna accept that some version of "get off me, mofo" is completely rational at this point.

He survived it and made it difficult for Ren. It was absurd unless Ren sucks or Finn is better than the movie showed.

Ren looked like he was toying with him. Ren struggled with Rey, not Finn. The only reason Finn survived was because he wasn't a quarter inch closer to Ren when he made the final slash.

I thought Daisy Ridley was goo in her role, but my nitpick with her is that it is hard for me to take her seriously as being bad arse at hand to hand combat when she is 5'7 and 140 lbs dripping wet. And before someone brings up that she is strong with the Force, that doesn't explain her ability to whip Platt's men.

As for Boyega, I've heard he's charismatic in other roles, but he was very hit or miss in this movie. Could be the dialogue, but I definitely would have rather seen more of Poe than Finn. Poe is the Maverick of the Galaxy

I only watched it for the first time yesterday, and I was honestly taken aback by how cheesy the dialogue was. The first few scenes, especially, it almost seemed like a color by numbers Star Wars script, if that makes sense.

"This is a rescue" - really Finn?

Did she fight hand to hand? I thought she had some sort of weapon every time she fought. At her size, she could still be damn good with that staff if she knew how to use it, which she clearly did.

Poe's forced 'comedic' lines were embarrassingly bad.

when he first meets Kylo he says 'who talks first, you, me?' etc...that was bad, then he follows it up with the quip about not hearing him with the mask in the way. wisecracks say shite like that, not the greatest pilot the resistance has to offer.

and the forced buddy buddy moments between he and Finn were god awful.

How about you get out more? I guarantee anyone with an actual social life couldn't answer the question on who those characters are.

I resent this. I have a pretty decent social life and I know who Kyle Katarn is.

Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II was one of my first computer games.

I'd say having lived with them all her life, she has had to fight them all of her life or else she would have died long before. I'm just going with she's feisty as hell.

I'm pretty thrilled the OP doesn't make movies. His suggestions are uniformly terrible for pretty much all the reasons people have outlined. And as a nerd who read some EU books as well, I never for a moment thought they would be the basis of the film. Not one moment.

My wfie didn't see Star Wars in the theaters and isn't a big Star Wars fan (or any sci-fi/comic book.fantasy property... she'll indulge me on occasion). She finally saw TFA and thought it was great, which shows the strength of the story telling. She hates this kind of movie in general, and she was sucked in pretty quickly, particularly by the rapid witty dialogue that many of you are botching about. To a non-fan, it's lack of required knowledge was a real positive. It's just a fun movie.

I actually thought that was a great tone setter for the film. You have a movie that people have been anxiously waiting for for the better part of two years. You get an intense crawl followed by an intense opening scene. No one expected that line at that intense moment to add a little bit of humor to the situation.

Han Solo is the comedic relief character in the OT and fits this description to a t.

That said, I'm interested to see how they'll handle humor in VIII with Solo gone. We saw what happened without him in I, II, and III - terrible.

All he's saying is that it is more acceptable or common in 2016 to have a major movie with a strong female lead than it was 30 years ago. I fail to see how that is pandering to SJWs

Pie and Finn will likely be the comics in the next one but I don't believe there will be as much yukks as in VII.
