1. The SJW garbage is disgusting I almost turned it off with the female and black guy playing Manor roles. Way to force progressivism on us Disney.

frick you and frick your backwards feelings.

TFA was awesome and a great movie to watch. It got people people interested in the franchise again after disaster of the prequels and it was a great homage to the originals while keeping up with the current social themes of 2016 america being that there is nothing wrong with a strong female character.

No, it's not. It's a worse version of a movie made 40 years ago on a much smaller budget.

Disney fricked up the franchise when they said none of the EU was canon anymore

That's a really stupid opinion. First, for everything good thing in the EU, there are three times as much bad.

Second, it would basically impossible to do an EU series for VII, VIII, IX. I don't think Disney paid 4 Billion to not do anything with the franchise.

It was more than "fan fiction" bro. You've obviously never read any of the expanded universe because you'd realize that the Thrawn trilogy, which should have been episodes 7-9, was a waaaay better story than the New Hope rehash

Let it go. EU sucked balls

I might make reference to them, but if I was in Disney, I'd never remotely consider bringing the EU to the big screen.
Why? They have some very interesting characters in the EU.

It was a shite sandwich. For many reasons beyond the gender/race of the leads.

Yeah, I know that's what I look for in a sci fi flick.

The first Star Wars was made what 40 years ago? Who was the most traditionally "strong" character in that movie? Princess Leia.

So this awkward pandering to weak minded progressives was apparently required to address an issue that was already overcome at least 40 years ago.

shite sandwich.

As someone who can't stand the SJW movement, I never once felt that anything in VII came close to pushing a progressive message.

Ask sentrius, he thinks the movie proffered such social themes.

Same.

Guess I just don't have a problem with women and blacks though.

My bad.

I might do a bit of a reimagining on some things that happened in the EU, but as far as taking it literally and using all the same characters in the exact same manner, then no way in hell I'd consider it. I might do Thrawn, but instead have it take place like 1500 years before the Original Trilogy. You can get creative with it, but it would have been the single worst idea in cinematic history to incorporate the EU as the law of a continued Star Wars Universe.

You're so edgy and smart with your lack of bias.

The movie was a big pile of meh. No originality, forced humor was bad, Ren was very inconsistent with his abilities, poe was way over the top, finn was a pointless character. That's just off the top of my head.

I think the original characters are too old for the Thrawn trilogy and agree that you don't want to be tied to novels. They just could have done anything, but played it way you safe.

Hopefully the next one will fill in some plot points.

Lol no.

Ren is supposed to appear weak. He is young and immature. He has the ability but he's immature.

Poe was in the movie for like 15 minutes tops. He's a badass pilot? That's it.

How was Finn pointless? He will ultimately be the equivalent to Leia.

Oh, and to the EU fans, I have to ask, isn't there a plotline where Palpatine is revived, Luke becomes his apprentice, and then Leia has to save Luke from the Emperor and convince him of his goodness? Sorry, but that's shite I used to do when I was 7 with my Legos. That's simply a shite plot and can't be defended.

Why the frick would DIsney ever look at this story and say "You know what, let's chain ourselves to it and ruin everything with the cast we have"? You people are fricking delusional if you think it would have been a good idea to use the EU.

I actually thought the performances from Harrison Ford, Daisy Ridley and the guy who played Finn were the strong points of a pretty average movie.
