Yeah he wanted Rey to join him. She wouldn't. So now he wants to kill her. Are you really so slow that you can't follow this? It's pretty obvious.

He killed Snoke, saved her life, then proposed that she join him. He is still evil during this conversation.

Maybe I'm just being a fanboy then. But I think it's a great movie. I would actually put it slightly ahead of The Force Awakens. Behind Empire, ANH, and Rogue One.
