To be fair that’s also probably the end game with Rey. Ben is the only person left alive who she has any connection to. Episode 9 could be shocking if the good guys don’t win.

That isn't really a journey. The characters have been developed. It's a conversation at that point.

The Resistance loses pretty much their entire infantry.

also, they're going to restock them like nothing happened because you can't a rebellion of 15 people half of them diminutive girls. leia declares they're now the rebellion, she doesn't say the rebellion is dead. leia mentions her "friends" for the sole purpose of giving the next movie an out on what Johnson did...because they don't show, but don't you worry...they're there and we're going to give them things to do.

Fans that will complain about anything they see with the Star Wars name on it that was made after Return of the Jedi.
Fans that will appreciate new entries to the Star Wars universe even if they are flawed, and can look past those flaws and enjoy further development of the universe they love.
New fans (mostly kids) that Disney is making this movie for.
