Some are saying this is most prestigious award out there

It’s way easier to replace a linebacker than it is a lockdown corner.

I agree if we are talking about a legit lockdown guy but I wouldn’t consider him a lockdown guy. I could be off and holding this year against him too much (because he was elite his freshman year). Someone from the corner at on3 posted some stats on him from PFF.

“when targeted opposing qbs had a 105.9 nfl passer rating which ranked
47th out of 61 sec corners

tied for 3rd most in sec in tds given up with 4 tds

coverage grade was
27th out of 61“

CB is more valuable than LB.

Yes but an All-American LB is more valuable than an above average CB
FYI Hoke said XA is supposedly getting about $1mill now. This is the same amount Crawford is allegedly asking and we can all agree XA is way more valuable than him.
If Crawford was a true elite lockdown guy then yes pay him. He was our best CB but let’s not act like he was the next Carlos Rogers.

I also hate seeing these stud freshman and us not having one.

Arizona had 3 top 22 and 2 top 10 recruits this class. Those are the guys that are gonna contribute early. SWA was our only top 50 guy. We grabbed some solid developmental guys in the class but no gamechangers. Which I get their approach of not wanting to take such a risk and count on freshmen, but you’ve gotta kill it in the portal.

We are gonna have to spend more to compete, especially after a year that we lose the entire roster like last year. Retaining players is cheaper than obtaining.

Steven being a defensive guy and bigs being the main thing he’s coached, I suspect he will go after some top tier defensive players next year.

In our two biggest games he's been nearly invisible and he's supposed to be this top player. He's good when it’s easy.

His lowest scoring game was Mich and he still had 15 in it. Sitting at 13 right now. This will likely be his third game all season where he doesn’t score 20+.

How has CBM played this year?

Really good, but if we keep CBM I’m not sure we get Hall.

As someone who went to bat for CBM regularly, I don’t love the idea of him on this team.

Solid close to the half. Dont think we’ve got it in us to survive another 20 mins but glad guys showed some fight there.

We just don't have the horses this year. There is a clear gap between us and the legit contenders.

Yep. Ceiling for this team is gonna be catching fire at the end of the year and just being a team others don’t want to draw in the tourney.

My point exactly. What was Hall doing defensively? It’s like he didn’t even know Bradley was in the corner.

Defensively we are lost. Terrified about the paint (understandably) and completely leaving guys. Offensively we just can’t match the physicality.

This is like playing Tenn but they’re actually good on offense.

Magwood in. This could be ugly.

Good job handling the blitz there. If big man has to work to the basket when they do it and someone has to find him.

Yeah we aren’t going to have any answer for a guy like Krivas
quote:

I don’t have faith that money buys automatic success right now when everybody has money.

Money won’t buy instant success (as we saw this year). But it’s definitely a necessity in this day and age.
Feel the same way. He was a big pull in HS and gave us a ton of momentum that class.

Was expected after some stuff he posted after the season. Hope he ends up out of the SEC and does well.
An OM writer said they expect him to rehab and redshirt next year.
quote:

His cousin Donte Mocrief is going to be elevated to wide receiver coach there according the 247 article. So that would help explain the flip.

Yep this is likely what sealed the deal
quote:

It's been too long. Need coach 'em up, Tuberville analogies asap

The real question is do we want coaches that can recruit or develop talent. You can only pick one.
