Empire Strikes Back is the best.

RO may have the most "Star Wars feel" to it than any other of the entries. It just feels like SW, and that's a great thing.
If I remember correctly, didn't they shoot it using the same type of lenses on the cameras as was used for ANH specifically to get that feel?

As bad as the CGI Tarkin and Leia were, there were some great uses of old footage - working both Red Leader and Gold Leader into the final battle using clips from ANH was really cool to see.

It is the best star wars movie, hands down, with ESB the only competition.

Pure fan service. The last 20 minutes do not make up for the rest of the film being mediocre.

Not a fan of Forrest Whitaker’s overacting. However, IP man and his hetero life-mate have a fantastic story arc.

How is any character from Rogue One great? Every character is an archetype. I don’t think any character develops through the film.

Rogue One is like the highest budget fan film ever made - just a mosh of things fans know and think are badass.

Like really nothing in the first two acts is essential to know.

One thing I've heard for years was that it didn't make sense that such a flaw was designed into the death star. More so in ROTJ, but I've heard it about ANH too. This explains why, and is pretty critical to the plot of both movies.

But you didn’t know that for like 40 years. Sure it answers the idiocy to some degree, but you think someone would have thought to put a vent over the exhaust port to at least take two shots to get it down there.

Maybe it was because my kids watched it so much, but I really got to liking Star Wars The Clone Wars animation series. They had a few good movies/long episodes off it as well.

But like I say, it may be because it reminds me of my kids being younger back when they would talk to me.

Rogue One is probably my 3rd favorite SW flick. For this particular movie, the lack of character development didn't bother me too much. I'd said before, they were developed as much as they needed to be. If we got to know them TOO much, it'd be the most depressing SW finale by a country mile

I'd put it 3rd behind ESB and A New Hope. or maybe 4th behind RotJ. Hands down better than 1-3 and 7-9.

The best thing RO did was including Vader, staying true to his character, and letting him kick a little arse. If TLJ had done the same with Luke its reception among the SW fan base would have been infinitely better.

Solo is great. Similarly to RO, it starts off a little slow. But once it finds its groove it settles down and is super entertaining. And I thought I would hate the kid that played Solo, but he actually did a great job and was believable. It's just a fun, fun movie IMO.

all up until the presumed badass bad guy is a a teenage girl. Same girl who portrayed a less than lack luster villain role in Falcon and WS. No cluse how she gets casts in these roles or why they even write in these badass teen woman power roles. Enfys Nest cam off as an awesome character up until it was revealed it was a teen girl. Should have bene an old or young small Asian guy or alien.

OML, you have gone on and on for years about how "bad" Rogue One is and for you it's too late now to turn. You have stood firm and I can admire a man who rides the ship to the bottom of the sea. I'm the same way. So just keep it up.

He has. I don't agree with his take, but SW threads always have a way of polarizing thoughts.

I'm a fan of Rogue One, but a lot of SW stuff has to be taken in context of SW IP. Perhaps you could skip two acts and not be confused. Perhaps character development wasn't great or even the goal. There is a huge window IMO where you're simply delaying in some silliness to have all arcs converge.

I'd put Rogue One probably 3/4 overall, but I change my opinion at times. ROTJ highlights are just so good, it's difficult to not make it #3. But the rest is very meh. I know ESB is the best, but I'm a huge fan of ANH.

I hated Solo. It was too cartoonish going for laughs over content. Rogue One was excellent. It definitely felt like one of the first three that came out (episode IV, V, and VI).

I liked Revenge of the Sith. Ian McDiarmid is a perfect villain and his cackle is hilarious.

I really lost interest in the franchise after episode VII (Return of the Jedi) outside of Rogue One. I didn't even bother to watch the most recent installment (Rise of Skywalker).

Revenge of the Sith is the Con-Air of the Star Wars universe. It’s over the top, not well acted, full of inconsistencies and complete suspension of belief, but it’s just so damn fun.
