For me.. it was the new Top Gun. Was it a great movie? Absolutely. Was it the best movie ever made in the history of great movies? Not even close

I’m not bashing the new Top Gun because it was great but the overreaction of some people was just crazy to me.

I don't think I've seen anyone claiming that TG:M deserves consideration for the pantheon of great movies.

The reason people (over)reacted the way they did was because it was such an incredible breath of fresh air to watch a well-executed and faithful sequel in an era when Hollywood seems hell-bent on resurrecting and then mishandling every piece of once-beloved IP that they can get their hands on.

I think the acclaim is less due to the movie itself and more because it's being perceived as potentially being the vanguard of a return to movies being made for the sake of entertainment and not socio-political lecturing.

100% agree

Chris Ryan from the Ringer said it best last week during their Oscar preview. He basically said nobody left the theater saying it was Citizen Kane. They all left saying how refreshing it was to do just a basic kick arse us vs them movie without overthinking it or brining politics into it.

It was a very fun well done summer popcorn flick, nothing more nothing less.

Damn man you got me!
Good job. Not a troll post but maybe a bit overblown.
I have yet to watch the entire original GF.
Just didn’t enjoy.

Apocalypse Now

One of the greatest movies of all time.

Watch the documentary on the film Hearts of Darkness A Filmmakers Apocalypse

The film has no point. It's a series of disconnected violent scenes and emotions.

Coppola knew this. It's a pretentious turd with a cool quote about napalm.

100% without a single doubt:

Inception

Horrible, convoluted plot that started out with an interesting concept, but fell apart by the third act.

I wasn't the biggest fan of Reservoir Dogs the first time I saw it, but was much better after multiple viewings.
