Even the original Home Alone is a mediocre at best movie and one of the most overrated movies of all time.
I don’t know anything about the sequels, other than that Donald Trump has a cameo role in one of the sequels.
And how could any parent accidentally abandons their kid that many times?

Why didn't Kevin invite the homeless lady back to their opulent penthouse to enjoy Christmas dinner after she saved his life?

Reading this thread, people have been critiquing every frame of this movie for over 13 years. An interesting twist on the thread for next year would be to take up the task of trying to defend the film’s various peculiarities.

After all these years I’ve just now realized that the composer of “Somewhere in my Memory” and the rest of the score of HA and HA2 is the same one that gave us E.T., Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Jaws and countless other classics.
It never even crossed my mind that John Williams did this, and I never heard anyone mention it before. Of course now that I’m listening to it whilst knowing this, it’s glaringly obvious.
Mr Williams has given us so much and made the movies and characters we love come to life even more.

… and to follow up, here hereby is talking about it. He knew it would work, but he was truly surprised it went as well as it did with the film.

Somewhere in my memory is definitely on our familys christmas music playlist. What a great song that embodies all of the magical nostalgia of Christmas.

I have my indie folk playlist but almost all of Home Alone’s playlist is on the family one.

Did OML get banned again?
I don’t know that he ever did. I think he got married, took a break and settled down.
He came back for the summer but bowed out a bit.
I say this as a non-OML-hater.

Didn’t he have an absolute breakdown on the poli board around the time of the Afghan evacuation?

Williams is a GOATed composer but Holtz gave us Star Wars...and a slew of other movie compositions that borrowed from him. "The Planets" is an awesome listen

Praise!
We are back folks!!!! And I got the movie in as I type.
I’d like to take a step back from over analyzing to praise Culkin’s ability to play a puck kid so well.
In fact all the acting is stellar in this movie.
Uncles Frank is a dick
Harry is a great “brain” and Marv is the perfect “Pinky”.

Something I just thought about this year, how was John Candy just a bit part in this movie? I was only 3 when this came out on theaters, so I'm not familiar with how big he was at the time. I assume he was fully in his super star time frame. Was it weird that he would play just a small part where he was essentially in just two scenes: airport and truck?

There's something to be said about after what Kevin put them through in both movies.
