Being able to shake off 4 bricks directly to the head from 75 feet up solidified my stance. Haha

how was John Candy just a bit part in this movie?
I remember hearing recently that there was more unreleased footage of Candy just improvising lines in the van. So I looked into it.
Wow, we did not deserve him. Wish we had him longer than we did.
Apparently the cast and crew were cracking up at the funeral parlor bit

They ordered 10 pizzas (16 inches per large back then) at 12.20 a pizza after taxes.
If that was ordered today, in Chicago, the price after taxes for a large pizza (now 14 inches) would be 21.57 per pizza.
Given the size in pizza change combined with the price increase, the cost would has increased 131%.
Also, based on Kevin’s actions in the first film, based on Chicago’s laws and statutes, in he was tried and convicted with the max sentencing - Kevin would spend 22 years and 364 days in prison plus fines and community service.

Was it weird that he would play just a small part where he was essentially in just two scenes: airport and truck?
No, because he did the cameo as a favor to John Hughes.

Always seemed like alot for 15 people. Especially if you are leaving the next day.

I heard that after the first two weeks of filming that Daniel Stern had to leave the movie and was replaced, his replacement was so bad that they begged him to work out his schedule and come back. Man that would have ruined Home Alone if he couldn’t come back.

Why does old man Marley drop Kevin off at his empty house after almost getting mutilated by criminals? Seems irresponsible to not try to check in with his parents. Was he going to leave an 8 year old home alone indefinitely?
Lets back this up even further. How does something not click with him when he sees Keivn at church? Why isn't he like hey where the frick are your parents and why are you here by yourself?
I just bought the Home Alone lego set to do with my kids

I must be misunderstanding what you are saying here.

I can’t imagine carb loading that much before hopping on a long flight. The bloat and gas from being trapped in a pressurized tube would be miserable.

No one is going to accuse the parents of being good parents but it is absolutely insane they took first class seats and left 11 kids (technically 10) to run a muck in coach
I rather be on flight full of babies than siblings with no parents. There is no way they are not fighting at some point on a flight to Paris

He meant Holst. Gustav Holst. Williams ripped off the SW theme from him. Mars, I believe.

Agreed. If I am Peter, Frank and Leslie are sitting in coach with the kids to keep an eye on things. Really, just Kevin and Fuller need supervision. The rest seemed to all be over 10, maybe even 12.
ETA: I just remembered the brother in Paris is the one that paid for the flights. So, I guess Peter probably can't get first class and not Frank.

Well when are we going to overanalyze 3, 4, 5 and 6?
I actually liked 3.

It's understandable that Kevin's mom didn't want spoiled milk left at the house but if that was an issue why in the hell did she buy 3 one gallon jugs plus another half gallon carton? On top of that, if you want everyone drinking milk why in the hell are there 4 or 5 two liter soda bottles AND soda cans readily available for everyone to grab right there on the table and in the fridge? Put those damn things in the garage fridge that they almost certainly have.
Revisiting this milk point from last year after watching tonight.
Assuming they didn't actually finish all that milk with their pizza, it's doubtful they would have tossed it before breakfast the next morning since they expected to get up early for the airport. And since they obviously slept in and were in a rush, it's doubtful they would have remembered to toss it before they left.
So Kevin realistically should have had milk left to drink, yet he still bought more milk at the grocery store.
But even if we are to accept that the McCallisters finished the milk or remembered to throw it out, one of Kate's FIRST thoughts when she and the family get back home after this whole ordeal is, "Someone has to find an open store, we don't even have milk here." WHAT THE HELL? This woman should keep track of her kids with the same energy she uses to track the milk supply.

This is a great point. The milk references are suspiciously prevalent. Big Dairy's fingerprints are all over this.

I watched this HA1 for the umpteenth time this past weekend. In the furnace scene, prior to Kevin telling it to shut up, you hear it laugh and say "Hello, Kevin!" As God is my witness, I never heard that before. All I can recall was the furnace just making a bunch of weird sounds and then Kevin telling it to shut up. Has the "Hello, Kevin!" always been there or is this some Mandela effect bullshite?
