Tried to watch the second one on an airplane. That's how much I cared.

I made it 15 min. and then just watched something i had seen a bunch of times instead. Just absolutely did not care.

Also the worst way to watch the film, not going to lie.

Probably also wouldn't be able to finish it unless you're flying across the country. It's runtime is longer than The Godfather

It’s a 2 billion dollar 3 hour place holder

They have no staying power really at all

It’s an event and you see it but really don’t think about it after it’s over

Honestly, I thought the first was average enough that I didn't bother with the second. I never understood the love.

People do talk about these movies when they want to talk about how nobody talks about them. They were both great theater experiences and I'm looking forward to the next one.

Nobody talks about Transformers or POTC either but there's a bunch of those and Transformers keeps putting out new movies every few years with diminishing results. No one talks about the Star Wars sequels or the Jurassic World movies except to talk about how bad they are. Star Wars stays in the public consciousness because there's a new series on D+ every other week. Avatar doesn't have the nostalgia factor of any of these movies either.

I can't understand why Avatar makes so much money at all. I don't think I ever will. I do agree with you that it seems like no one really talks about them.

Yeah. If you're like me and you've never seen one, the fact that nobody EVER talks about them (except to ask how they made so much money) makes it even more perplexing.

There is basically no cultural impact at all.

Eh, but these are kids movies tried to make elevated... a little. That's normal for a kids movie.

And I still hold that Dark of the Moon was pretty underrated for an action movie. It's nuts, but a good nuts.

POTC

Eh what? Those movies were cultural icons for a couple of decades. Yeah NOW we don't talk about them a ton, but Sparrow is referenced pretty often. People WANT another movie, etc. Maybe.

I thought the 1st one was cheesy and obviously derivative, but decent enough.

It was the 3D revival.

I’m still trying to figure out why this movie was deserving of a Disney theme park.

At least they don’t hold back on the special effects. 10 out of 10 always. can’t say that about everything these days.

And nobody talks about them because it’s mainly boomers who love it. They’re not as active on social media.

How often do you think or talk about the last roller coaster that you rode?

People know they’re going to be visually entertained with Avatar. It’s a guarantee. That’s why people see it.

I know a lot of people who love both avatars and they would never come to a place like this and talk about it because everyone hates it here. Why would anybody come talk about it here positively when they’re just going to get trashed? Lol.

So was the 2nd. We just are used to it and gloss over it.

now, sure.

But they did when they were in the rotation of releases, and for a while after.

Avatar films rarely are mentioned, but for the immediate release window..

And also Avatar dwarfs those films, with respect to ticket sales.

You are making poor comparisons.
