Dude, just because people don’t want to argue about movies doesn’t mean they’re insecure. Are you serious?

In fact, I’d argue the opposite.

You made it seem like they were afraid.

This board is generally made up of 3 types of people:

1) anti-wokes bitching about shite
2) wokies bitching about anti-wokes bitching
3) people talking about movies and TV

People always cry and say they miss the way the board used to be. . .but it has pretty much always been this way for as long as I have been here.

There isn't a social media site that exists that isn't going to have people bitching. Life's tough, wear a cup.

I just can't imagine being so afraid of some anonymous asshat whining, that i would let it alter my leisure time activities. Nobody here really matters to me in any real way. Just letters on a screen.

Afraid? Of people on the internet? No

Just have better things to do.

I don’t think anyone is actually afraid on the internet. Hence the unstable chaos.

then why is the status of the board an issue, if they have better things to do?

Or were you just taking a swipe at the board?

You know what, don't answer, I don't really care.

You are WAY overthinking. It’s ok.

Im only talking specifically about Avatar. And it’s not just here. The “overrated “ talk for avatar is loud. And annoying. Especially when 2 came out. So people saw it, liked it, and just kind of went on with their life. That’s extremely obvious due to it’s huge numbers and lack of conversation as you have pointed out.

I also said a lot of old people love it. Or older people. They don’t go to the internet to talk.

It’s ok man.

Also the worst way to watch the film, not going to lie.
Watching a movie on a plane was not the worst movie viewing experience I've had. My 1st watch of The Matrix was on a party bus, with no sound. We had a DVD of it, before it was released in theaters, to watch on the way home from a company anniversary party in Houston. No one else wanted to watch it because it was late night, and they wanted to sleep, so they turned the volume all the way down. We didn't have headphones, just the TV speakers.

Yes, I watched the whole movie without sound, on a 19" TV mounted to the ceiling of a party bus, and thought it was great. It isn't something I'd recommend.

ETA: I wouldn't watch an Avatar movie that way. Would anyone else watch one that way?

The first Avatar is one of my all time favorite movies and was widely talked about for a very long time

The special effects were talked about for quite a while. I mean it did singlehandedly bring back 3D movies with a vengeance.

No one talks about the story or characters though and I never hear any quotes from it. The only meme I've seen it generate is a picture of sully with the caption "This dude sold out his entire species to clap alien cheeks."

Compare this to other Cameron movies that have stayed in the conversation today despite being far older than Avatar. John/Sarah Conner and the T1000, the liquid metal terminator, Jack and Rose from Titanic, "I'll be back" "come with me if you want to live" "I'm king of the world." All of these are referenced a ton even today. I just don't see the same thing from the first avatar. I never see anything about the second one.

I thought the 1st one was cheesy and obviously derivative, but decent enough.

The Avatar movies are a spectacle. You go for the ground breaking visuals and literally nothing else. Zero rewatchability.

Was it? I don't remember that line from the movie at all.

ETA: If you type in "I see you meme" into google images, you get zilch from avatar. If you type in the others I mentioned, all you see are T1, T2, and Titanic images

If you don't remember that line at all, then Avatar just wasn't the movie for you. No harm, no foul.

Only reason anyone would remember that line because that was the name of the theme song. There are no memes and nobody was saying "I see you" anywhere.
