Care to elaborate on this for a casual like myself who will probably never read the books?

Since this is the Spoiler thread, I will just say it. Aegon has Sunfyre eat Rhaenyra.

They need to do the remaining 3-4 seasons

The pacing is just all fricked. I think the word is that they want 4 total seasons. I'm assuming next season ends with Tumbleton.

Ok now what about the people that rated episode 4 a 1 out of 10? They weren't just rating it a 1 for some alternative reason and actually thought the episode was a 1?

It's literally 1.3k out of 50k+ reviews and the overall score is 9.5/10. No that's not at all review bombing. It was a great episode of TV and the reviews overwhelmingly show that.

The season finale has a lot more 1 star reviews and a 6.3/10 score. That's to be expected.

Battle of the Bastards had a 9.9!!!/10 overall score with... 5.5K 1 star reviews. Was one of the highest rated episodes of TV ever review bombed?

The season finales review rating is about what's expected and reflects a let down.

Plus you have a lot of book fans who are pissed about the episode. Aegon said his dragon is dead. Thats a really big problem for the book readers.

On one hand, that could easily be written off that he just doesn't know the dragon didn't die. He was pretty out of it when he was brought back to KL.

On the other hand, the book says that guards were posted to feed and protect the injured dragon, so nobody bothered to tell the king?

I'm assuming they are going to have Aegon riding on Sunfyre as a big reveal at some point probably in the 4th season or something.

meh. I think he believes Sunfyre is dead but he’s really not. Sunfyre laid around and healed up where he fell while people brought him food

I read that he also ate the corpses on the battle field and when they were all gone they started bringing him sheep.

Must be nice to have a dragon clean up a battlefield of corpses for you. I always wonder who the hell cleans all that mess up

The only logical explanation would be that clubfoot is the one that ordered the soldiers to feed the healing Sunfyre and that he is keeping it a secret from everyone because he has a plot to kill off everyone but Aegon so he will have influence over the thrown.

There should be another pretty cool battle over dragonstone unless the show runners crap the bed

Watched finale last night. It didn't feel like a finale at all, what a shite show.

How do they frick this up? Do they think a 20 minutes girl power sob fest is a "climax" to the season?

Is the star wars cnut from Disney running this show too?

I get maybe the writer's strike did mess up plans....but uhhh I think people would have preferred you just delay s2 a bit instead of giving them an incomplete product. That's how you piss off and lose fan bases, and this franchise doesn't seem to have a lot of good will in its favor after how the OG series ended. Just not a smart move

This season was a complete dud

7 episodes of Daemon hallucinating and walking around Harrenhal aimlessly, and pretty much nothing else

This is a bit hyperbolic.

The writing is even worse than that if you think about it, they spent several episodes driving Daemon towards realizing that he doesn’t need the crown, then Oscar Tully makes him his bitch basically and says that the Riverland swords are sworn to Rhaenyra, then Daemon has this revelation during one of his hallucinations that Rhaenyra needs to be queen after that, then when Rhaenyra gets there, they (the Riverland army) all act like they are sworn to Daemon until he kneels to Rhaenyra. It was an incongruent clusterfrick of writing
