They said the show will go forward, presumably with Bo Katan as the titular Manalorian.

They said the movie was the end of Djin and Grogu.

I could be wrong, but I am certain that was the explanation.

I read it as The Mandalorian show was over but Djin/Pedro would still possibly appear in other series (like they did with Boba Fett)

No script, no site location scouted out, not much of anything.

Safe to say that the documentarian director (name not important) forced Lucas Film's hand by announcing on New Year's Day that she was chosen to lead the Rey Palpatine movie and now Disney has no choice but to go forward.

It likely was going to be shelved, like so many others, but the activist that she is took it upon herself to strong arm KK and now they have to make it, or completely lose face.

Problem is, no one has any viable ideas.

They have already lost face. if they make it people are going to treat it just like the Acolyte. No one wants there directors who just want to push an agenda.

You can bet this director was going to make it where no one wants to see it. Gone are the days where people made good films for the sake of the material. Now its just one uping each other on how gay or DEI they can make a beloved franchise in the name of moving the franchise forward.

They haven’t lost face in their own eyes, we are just too racist and misogynist to appreciate their amazing work. That’s literally how they view the fans.

How many Star Wars movies have been announced and dropped now under Kennedy? Has to be about 10. They don't have to make this and probably won't.

Figure I would just stick it in this thread instead of starting a new one, but there is a lot of smoke about Mando S4 being canceled and instead the Mando and Grogu movie will wrap up their storyline.

Anyone else seeing that?

12, by Drinker’s count. Including 2 different trilogies.

why does it even matter to you if there's a script or the movie is delayed or cancelled. you wont watch it either way and you'll say it's the worst movie ever

I don't understand why you would care if a movie is delayed if you aren't gonna watch it no matter when it is released

Dude, just leave this site if you hate it so much. I’m SURE there are dozens of other sites that match your ideals.

This is just stupid.

To be fair, this phrase could be used to describe most of the Hollywood writers these days. Very little creativity. Just the same formulaic garbage and sequels and reboots.

In this case Rey had no character development and they revealed her lineage, so it's hard to create a trilogy based on absolutely nothing.

Did you read this?
It also says Rey movie has not, not been cancelled.
No script, no release date, no director, two years in development already.

2019 last theatrical Star Wars release, Acolyte actually cost $230 million, How good was Kathy at getting coffee? She’s a shitty studio head.
Maybe they can pencil in Rey movie between Rogue Squadron and Taika Waititi movie and Rian Johnson’s trilogy. Or The Benioff and Weiss whatever. Oh Keven Feige movie.

Now, ask yourself what’s more likely?
You people.
Imagine linking a Screenrant article as a gotcha.

they didn't flesh out the character they presented, forget about progressing her. You never got an idea who she was, aside from a generic Mary Sue.

At all.

I couldn't describe her to somebody using personality traits. She was completely cardboard.

This is why - even though TFA was marginally palatable - that I had zero interest in watching episodes 8 and 9.

Watched TLJ on an airplane out of boredom. Was slightly more entertaining than a nap.

Didn't even bother to watch TROS. Still haven't.

I don't care about Rey. I just don't. I'm sorry. I cared about Leia. I cared about Ellen Ripley. I cared about Trinity. I cared about Sarah Conner. I cared about Hermione. It has nothing to do with Rey being a girl, and has everything to do with her being a terribly-written protagonist.

Lucasfilm should be ashamed of themselves. I grew up on SW and was psyched for the sequel trilogy. I was part of their core audience, and I abandoned it halfway through.

I feel bad for the girls who are being raised on this new-wave Hollywood vision of what a heroic female looks like. Because it must be as discouraging and unattainable as frick.

Be perfect. Never be scared. Never fail. Win at everything. Always be the best. Always be the smartest. Always be the most talented. Don't show emotion (righteous indignation excepted). Don't even HAVE emotion (righteous indignation excepted). Don't have any weaknesses. That's what really makes you a strong woman.

Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's New Jedi Order Movie (In Development)

After all the money they’ve lost on movies & tv shows “with a message” flopping lately, there’s no way the finance folks are allowing this expensive big budget movie forward with a director who’s only experience is a few short documentaries and two 30 min episodes of the worst Marvel tv show made to date.

I might have welcomed it if it had been a legitimate attempt to fix Rey. Focus on her enough to give her a legit arc, not turn her into a girlboss, etc. - maybe have a smaller cast so better character development.

Of course the odds of that are next to zero. Star Wars would need a complete overhaul at the top for them to treat Rey like any other heroic character instead of the weird "writing female characters with weaknesses is misogynistic!" Until that weird concept gets dropped female leads will be looked at askance and movie goers constantly wondering if they're getting an Ellen Ripley or a Rey Palpatine.

Aside from Mando and Ahsoka S2 (and Skeleton Crew + S2 of Andor already being finished) there’s nothing out there about the figure of Star Wars. My guess is the Rey movie will be released for the 50th year of Lucasfilms
