bro, there is a huge gap between "ignoring character development over 7 seasons" / "creating shock conflict/actions out of nowhere" and "having everything spelled out for us"
everyone knew they were forcing Dany into the "mad queen" role. it's HOW they did it that is being criticized

like i said yesterday. the writers got her to a 3, maybe a 4/10 of crazy-angry, and then she snaps into a 25/10 in an instant without explanation

There are three main groups of fans bitching about her story: The angry “WOMAN POWERZ” group pissed she ended up being just another crazy bleeder dependent on men for validation, the book readers who are pissed the story isn’t ending like they wanted and/or pissed they don’t get to have “the drop” on “hodors” anymore and those with other, coherent reasons for not liking the story.
The overwhelming majority fall into the first two groups.

I posted in another thread that she’d shown she has a cold nature towards death/killing throughout the show. It was always justified killing, but she was still remorseless.
It’s a pretty large leap from that level of “mad queen” to razing a city and burning women, children and soldiers alike.

I honestly have no prob with Dany going nuts, I did feel it coming.
But if I had a dragon, I’d be tempted to torch your arse for that comment. I think Dany’s prob is far more due to her dna than to her being a woman.

after episode 3 basically everyone threw out all the theories b/c it was clear D/D were going for shock and ignoring the books
it's also funny how the biggest, most accepted gripe with 8 is how rushed it is and how D/D should have fleshed out these issues/conflicts more, and the justifications for Dany going mad are from like 4-5 seasons ago. so in addition to the lack of development into madness (but hey, we got that shock factor in spades!), Dany has a legitimate rollercoaster of development, where she starts going mad queen early into her reign, then gets better for years, and then snaps in literally 2 episodes

It’s easily a 7 and it was further reinforced Barristan Selmy was begging her not to do it and crazy people do crazy things. She had been planning it during a time they showed her going over the edge.

This is why rotten tomatoes is stupid. Regardless of what you think of the story, that was objectively an incredible 90 minutes of TV. Funny that some of the people who hate how the story is wrapping up also complain about the show doing certain things just for “fan service.”
