Would have made more sense for one of Bran or Jon to have more to do with the NK death since they’ve been the two who have interacted with him the most. They did it for shock value and because everyone loves Arya

Yeah, I think so, too - flying over the ships.

Excuse me for being retarded but did she take the face of one of the white walkers?

I keep seeing this. So someone who raises dead people and tracks someone down he marks is going to get fooled by a fricking mask? STHAP

About the night king letting his guard down.

The white walkers not talking really screwed him there. I picture his 12 lieutenants waiving their arms trying to get his attention about the psycho girl flying at him, but not making any noise. That’s funny.

Wrong. They guessed Jon’s mother.

Yeah Arya has had nothing to do with death in this show...

Hodor question here:

Every time we've seen the NK touch someone, he's either made them a blue eye or marked him. How did the not happen to Arya?

Can't believe people liked that episode. 15 minutes unnecessary intro where nothing happened and no one said anything, 40 minutes of blurry battle where nothing happened, 10 minutes of Night King slow walk before a lazy, forgettable death, then credits.
I 100% agree with you.

No. She was hiding on the tree. It's how she came from that angle. She got into position after the not today comment. I'm glad they didnt show it happening as well. Proved a good shock kill out of nowhere. I'd suspect they show a recap and show her going up there next episode in some way to explain how she got into position.

I do wish she took a night Walker face though. But still makes sense the trained assassin kills the NK.

Lost a lot of respect for NK when he pulled a Ramsey Bolton and wouldn’t 1 v 1 Jon, that was the move of a count

So pretty much all the main characters in the frontlines survived?

And the main characters in the crypts?

How id fat sam alive after laying under a pile of dead soldiers?

Garbage.

I need some time to digest. But, at this point, the show is feeling like how you would expect a LOTR type movie to play out with a hell of a lot of drama in between.

That was without a doubt some of the best, if not the best, film put on television. It was absolutely riveting all the way through. However, in the end it feels anticlimactic in a lot of ways. We never get any real background on the night king; his intellect, his motivations, his story.

We just ended what seemed like low key the central plot of the show. I'm not mad how it happened; Arya delivering the final blow is way more satisfying than if Jon did in my opinion. The foreshadowing by Melisandre was really badass.

I'm just sort of disappointed how we ended it in a very Michael Bay sort of way. All form, no substance. And now we move on to Kings Landing! Yayyy!!

At this point, narrowing the universe to Cersei and House Targaryen seems like it could be disappointing after the end to this epic storyline. And it also subtly feels like it has been narrowed down to that plot point out of convenience.

I'm sure it'll be entertaining, though.

People refuse to admit that nobody is botch Ng that Arya got the kill.

People are bitching because a ridiculously expensive and talent rich show didn't spend 90 seconds to set it up.

You're right. They spent 7 seasons setting it up.

They’ve literally been setting her up for this since the first episode of season one

I guess Arya gets to kill everyone. What a load of fricking shite. Bunch of fricking shite. That was Jon’s kill and Dany’s At worst. I guess she’ll kill Jaime and then take his face and kill Cersei. I guess she didn’t get Joffrey, so there’s that. Arya killing the Night King is total bullshite.

Only way to describe this ending compared to all that build up: let down.

shouldnt mounted Cavalry be used to attack the flanks in a situation like that where they can maneuver

Not to attack a superior ground force that will envelop you from the front.

The books that go out of their way to upend traditional fantasy tropes? The ones that never once make the Night King the final bad they must defeat? The ones that D&D correctly guessed the ending to?

It wasn’t a perfect episode. But it was good enough for me.

My big gripe with the episode was that it had some really clunky editing in it.

But here’s what I really want to say: to those of you complaining about the Night King not getting his due, have you ever considered that he is not the major character you think he is? Maybe he’s not intended to be “deep” in character development. Maybe you’re not supposed to know anything more about him than the characters do.

Maybe he’s a force of nature. I dunno... maybe he’s WINTER. And there’s not much more to him than that.

Have you considered that the dead are “part” of him, like the tentacles of an octopus? Angry that there was no climatic fight by the Night King? The whole episode is the Night King fighting. The dragon holding back Jon Snow? That’s HIM. The dead attacking Jorah at the end? HIM.

What about any of the dead or any of the White Walkers give you the impression that they have any personality or will of their own? They are one. Hence, they died as one.
