Well I suppose he’s dying in season 2. That sucks, he’s probably my favorite character in the series.

I would consider him to definitely be one of the”the four main characters” in the series, and his acting has been stellar.

He’s a movie star doing tv it’s probably moving way to slow for him and feeling like a waste of his time. And at his age probably not something he wants to be wasting.

As a 75 year old actor, he should be happy to still have quality work. He's way past his prime as a leading actor and his role in the DR was pretty dan significant. Even he said in this interview that when he watch the finished product it was fine compared to the film experience.
The first year of most shows take time to get all of the pieces on the the board to establish the pace of the show. Also, first year Showrunner is out so we'll see how that goes.

I worked with him on a project back in 2017 and that was the first thing I noticed. He's blunt and straightforward. Doesn't sugarcoat anything or tell people what they want to hear. He'll tell you exactly what he thinks and if he doesn't like something, he will let it be known... which i'll take that over fake, two faced people all day, every day.
That said, he's also surprisingly easygoing. He would shoot the shite with anyone. He's direct but also approachable. Never acted like anyone was beneath him which most actors tend to keep to themselves and steer clear of other departments. Harris wasn't like that and if I saw him on the streets, I'd have no reservations about speaking to him.
He's also tiny as frick and a heavy chain smoker.

Sounds like an actor being egotistical.
I don't think he'd have to make up something like, "promised I'd be one of four leads". Sounds like a reasonable pitch to make to Ed Harris, and it sounds like if he had any other reason to be unhappy with the show, he'd say it.
