Haha my dad watched Robocop with me when I was like 7 or 8. I thought the dude was eating powdered sugar off that woman's chest!
He took me and my teenage brothers to see Black Hawk Down in theaters when I was 9.
Now he watches horse videos on youtube lol

Yes. I remember going to see Freddy Got Fingered with a few friends in middle school when it came out. There was an older lady working the ticket booth and she denied us tickets because she thought it was inappropriate for kids our age. She gave us tickets to watch Gladiator instead, which was also rated R, lol.

My parents? No. But I had an older married sister. She would take us to what today may be X rated movies. Movies with full on bush.

I still talk about going to see ‘Revenge of the Nerds’ in the theater with my parents and two friends in the 80’s. We didn’t sit together but still awkward. ‘We’ve got bush…we’ve got bush.’

The movie theater in Opelousas used to let a parent "sign in" a minor to R movies. My mom didn't give a shite as long as I was out of the house. It was a great time to grow up.

That was our movie theater growing up. The pizza hut right across the street was great too. Man what a time to be alive. Opelousas was actually pretty nice during the 80's early 90's.

One of the first R-rated movies I can remember seeing was Robocop.
It stands out the most because my parents had no problem with me seeing Murphy getting blown to bits and all the murder and drug use.

My mom took me and by brother to see The Amityville Horror, what year was that 79? I was 7 Freaked me the F out. I started crying so we switched to see Meatballs the bill Murry camp movie haha

My parents took us to some pretty adult themed movies. I saw The Outlaw Josey Wales, Midway, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Jaws - all before I was 10.

Alien was the movie I was thinking about when I opened this thread. I remember watching it on VHS with my dad when we lived in Mississippi, and I was 9 when we moved back to Alabama, so I was at least younger than that. The dude ripped in half with his guts flayed open I can still remember. Of course watching it later in life it wasn't nearly as scary, but for a 7-8 year old boy it left a mark.

When I was in my teens, parents just GAVE us money to go see movies ( or something resembling an allowance, so the same thing.) All those R rated movies, like Predator, Alien, etc... I'd see with buddies or possibly an older sibling who also wanted to see it.
On a related note though, I did see a *woman take some small kids (we're talking 6-10 yrs old) into see South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut. Even the ticket office gals was like "Lady, are you suuure you want the little ones to go see this?" Everyone was like ...Really?? Guess she thought it was animated and they could watch it on TV, how bad could it be?
*Was unsure if it was their mom, or she was taking her kids + a friend or two, or she was the aunt, a babysitter, ... but damn, that movie was harsh for such young eyes!
