Did your parents take you to R rated movies in the 80's, 90's

In another thread I mentioned growing up in the 80's and myself and pretty much everyone I knew went and saw R rated movies with our dads when we were like 8-13.Another poster said he didnt know anyone who's parents took them to see rated R movies. All the big summer action movies like Aliens, Predator , Robocop, Total Recall, Die Hard, Van Damme's greatest hits T2 were rated R and everyone in my class had gone to see them especially by middle school.. I can remember a birthday party in 7th grade where like 15 of us of went to theater and my buddy's dad bought half of us tickets for Misery and the other half went to see Predator 2. And we werent trailer trash..All middle class Catholic school kids. Was this yall's experience as well growing up in the 80's 90's too or was this something rare with our crew.

Hell no, my parents didn't even want me to watch stuff like MTV or pro wrestling. Back then, especially my mom, they were super religious/conservative.
Satanic panic was a huge deal.

My parents were strict but bizarrely routinely let us watch R rated movies WAY inappropriate for our ages.

We saw all of the big R movies in the early 90's. I saw Aliens, Terminator 2 and Predator when I was 5 and it made me want to workout to be like Arnold. I'd credit that stuff for a lot of my development in formative years as crazy as it might sound to helicopter parents

If it was just 80s/90s violence, like Terminator or Rambo, my parents didn’t really care.
Really annoyed some of my friends that had parents who thought the ninja turtles were too violent.

thank god I didn't grow up with what kids have access to these days
our biggest concerns were sneaking into a R rated movie and hoping the theater police didn't catch you

Same as far as accelerating creative thinking and an interest in scientific subjects.

Not at the movies, but we were allowed to watch R movies at home with my parents.
Which made for some uncomfortable moments, as you would imagine.

I remember seeing these all in theaters, without parents and under 18. They were not very enforcing of those ratings back in 80s and 90s.

The first movie I remember seeing in theaters was Starship Troopers

We had cable pretty early (1982ish), with HBO/Cinemax/Showtime, so my sisters and I saw everything. Plus my parents and their friends thought it was the height of hilarity to hear a child cursing, so my recitations of Carlin, Pryor and Murphy were always a hit once they started getting deep in the sauce.
I remember seeing ESB, StarMan and The Color of Money in the theater with my folks as a child.
To let us into R movies at our local theater without our folks, one of them would have to get out of the car and wave at the ticket counter to give consent for whatever we wanted to see.

My friend’s mom took us to see Basic Instinct at The Pavillion in Kenner when we were 13.

It was 1980 when Jeffrey Rubenstein's dad took a group of a dozen 11-year olds to the movies to see Caddyshack for Jeffrey's 11th birthday....Lacy Underall, nuff said.

No. My parents wanted to be parents, not my buddy.

My cousin took me to see Conan the Barbarian when I was young. She was in college and staying with us to go to summer school at LSU. The war dogs in the movie gave me bad dreams. She had nice tits so I was distracted most of the movie. I feel no guilt because I'm adopted.

In 80s , my parents would let me watch the R rated action movies or sci-fi. Aliens, Rambo, Commando
But if it had a lot nudity or some sex scenes, my mom would not let me watch.
