Nice tagline he had at the end of the post-game wrap up as the reds announcer for 30 years or so.

‘This is the old left-hander, rounding third and heading for home. Good night everyone.’

A big part of my youth listening to Reds radio w my old man - before everything was on TV.
Classic movie from a bygone era.

I was always worried about the Adams Atoms and their lack of depth. For a bowl team especially they looked thin in the secondary and at tailback. Even with Ogre getting a good push up front, that D probably struggled. And I have no idea who Stan Gable was throwing the ball to.
Focusing on my own positive improvements. Being more mindful of others.

Peace be with you.
Children benefit from having a father who is engaged in their life and spends time with them. News at 11.
My first job out of college - way back in the 90’s - was with a tobacco company as a territory manager. We had several brands of loose leaf chewing tobacco, including Beech Nut. It was a hell of a job for someone in their early 20’s with account management, golfing, drinking, free samples at farm/hunting events. I miss that job…good times.
Just finishing a re-watch and probably didn’t give the series enough love the first time around.

Gip, Van Alden, and Harrow were all great characters.

Props to whomever cast the Young Nucky Thompson. It’s probably challenging to find a Buscemi look alike, but they nailed it.

Decide what to be...and go be it.

And

I broke a promise to myself
To ride the throttle 'til the wheels came off
Burn out like a Molotov
In the night sky
I broke a promise to myself
Made a couple to a brown eyed girl
Who rode with me through the mean ol' world
Never say die

Impressive...especially General Fatton in the camouflage body suit.
Mr Rogers Remix

Just saw this documentary the other day. Damn onions.
I’ve always felt Mr. Holland was a bit of an a-hole and that Dick Dreyfus was pretty unlikeable in playing him.

Not sure if it was intentional to show that he was flawed, but he treated his son like crap. Angry at him and the world because he was born deaf.

Then he almost took advantage of a young, maturing Rowena.

Having said that, I’d love to see an update w this being ‘Mrs Holland’s Opus.’ She would undoubtedly be banging students within the first 20 minutes.
Countless nights spent listening to Reds on radio w Marty and Joe in the 70’s and 80’s with games in TV being a rarity.

He was an irascible SOB and would call it like he saw it.

Reds were in San Diego for game that Roseann Barr sang National Anthem...Marty’s initial response: ‘She Oughta be shot.’
It made me remember how goddang popular Laverne and Shirley was.

So much so that there was a Saturday Morning cartoon of ‘Laverne and Shirley join the army.’ Strangely enough their commander was a pig voiced by Ron (Arnold Horshack) Palllilo.

I’m not even sure who could come up with such a plot.
